Hi,
I just installed Windows 7 (64-bit) having run EZDrummer under Vista 64-bit with no problems. I can’t install EZDrummer from the installation CD as there is a file-not-found error, so downloaded the installation file from the web-site as recommended http://www.toontrack.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=100599. However, when I try to run the downloaded installer, I get an error with the un-packing process: “format::zip::item_reader exception: CRC mismatch, data is invalid” in an “Aladdin Self-Extracting Archive” pop-up window. I’ve tried downloading the file several times to different locations on my hard disk, and under both Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux, but every time I’ve tried downloading it I get the same error when I run it (though sometimes at different stages in the self-extraction process). Any ideas on what the problem could be?
Thanks,
Richard
CRC mismatch, data is invalid
this is likely caused by the archive being corrupted in transfer.
Anyway, could you try, using the DVD, to click through the error messages with the (normally) available ‘Ignore’ option. Please write down the exact files concerned and post here… once that is done please try to update to EZdrummer 1.2.1 (available from your account) and see if it is successful. Based on the results I should be able to advise further.

Thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately an ‘ignore’ button is not available, just ‘retry’ (which doesn’t work) or ‘cancel’, which cancels the entire installation and removes all files copied during the installation 🙁 The file it says is missing from the DVD is “InstallPCWindowswinsxsulCRTx86x86_Microsoft.VC90.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.1_x-ww_6f74963.manifest”
“InstallPCWindowswinsxsulCRTx86x86_Microsoft.VC90.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.1_x-ww_6f74963” exists on the DVD, but not “InstallPCWindowswinsxsulCRTx86x86_Microsoft.VC90.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.1_x-ww_6f74963.manifest” – I’ve tried copying the DVD contents to my hard drive, renaming the file and trying to install from there but to no avail…
I’ve tried downloading several times from different browsers and using download managers but no luck – the error with the download occurs at different stages of unpacking each time but still happens. Tried downloading with disabled antivirus, updated motherboad/lan etc. drivers and everything. May try with someone else’s PC and report back.
You’re not using a Netgear router by any chance are you?

Yes I am, have you had similar problems? I’ve never had problems in the past, seems like it’s since I’ve installed Windows 7…
Here’s another person that had a similar issue; http://www.toontrack.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=100511
There’s some talk about Netgear SPI (filtering) dropping packets on large downloads. If you are behind an ISP firewall and/or are using a software one (as well as most ISP’s NAT your address anyway), you should be able to turn it off (at least during large downloads) to, at the very least, take that out of the equation.

hum, OK, that’s strange. Before you get down to troubleshoot your router potential issues I would suggest you try to install the following: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/confirmation.aspx?familyId=a5c84275-3b97-4ab7-a40d-3802b2af5fc2&displayLang=en
… this should allow the installer to skip the installation of the files that seem to cause problem. Note that this is the x86 (32 bit) redistributable package and this is what you need regardless of you running a 64 bit OS.

Rogue – I installed the file you linked to and EZDrummer has installed successfully from the DVD without asking me to skip any files. Just tested it in Cubase and it’s working without the update to the latest version. I’ll keep looking into the router issues as it could be annoying in the future but for now EZDrummer is up and running, so thanks very much! Thanks bradch00 for the suggestions too 🙂
thanks for feedback, that info is very useful.

I’m not sure what you’ve downloaded/installed already so I’ll lay it out from the beginning.
First, please in your system specs in your member profile page so us techs have an idea of what kind of system you are working on (32-bit OS/Host or 64-bit OS/Host, etc.)
Second, download the full product installer from your Toontrack account (the red ‘PC’ button in the pic below). Download it to your Desktop. Right click the downloaded zip file and choose ‘Extract all’ to extract the installer and contents. Next, click on the extracted installer to install it to your system. EZdrummer is a VST plugin and needs a host DAW to operate. It will load in Acid Pro as a VST instrument. Alternately, you can download Toontrack’s own host Solo from your Toontrack account as a standalone host. But, if you plan on creating songs inside Acid, using EZD in Acid is the way to go.
Next, download the latest update (EZdrummer_WIN_130.zip) and install the update that is correct for your OS/DAW. So, if your OS/Host is 32-bit, install the 32-bit update. If your OS/Host is 64-bit, install the 32-bit updater first and then 64-bit update. (See why us knowing your system specs are important?)
Next, when you open Acid, you may need to tell Acid where you installed the EZD plugin (you may not as Acid may be checking the folder already). It may be located in C:Program FilesVstPlugins. Check the Acid manual for how to set paths to plugins.
Next, load EZD in Acid (check Acid manual for how to load a VST instrument). The first time you open EZD, you will see the authorization screen. It will show your Computer ID. Use this Computer ID to generate an authorization code from the Toontrack website. See this link for a video on the authorization process:

Next, download the latest update (EZdrummer_WIN_130.zip) and install the update that is correct for your OS/DAW. So, if your OS/Host is 32-bit, install the 32-bit update. If your OS/Host is 64-bit, install the 64-bit update. (See why us knowing your system specs are important?)
This part of the response confuses me because it appears to contradict what it says in the 1.30 ReadMe.rtf. To wit: “- If your computer is running a version of Windows made for 64 bit processors and you intend to use EZdrummer in a 64 bit host, double click the EZdrummer 32 bit Updater (my emphasis) included in this archive and follow the on-screen instructions. Once the process has been completed, double click the EZdrummer 64 bit Updater included herein and follow the on-screen instructions.”
I am in that category: using the latest version (ie. the one before 1.30) of EZD patched, installed and running on a Sonar X1x64 host, running under Win7x64.
So which is it? Should I first run the 32bit updater followed by the 64 bit, as per the rtf file, or should I run only the 64 bit updater, which seems to be your advice? Clarification appreciated please.
-Thank you, Ron
OT: BTW, why is my post count reset to 1?
Any direction on this, or is the question too dumb to answer. Trying to prioritize the instruction given above vs. the contradictory instruction in the readme.rtf for the EZD 1.3.0×64 update. Should the x32 update version be run before the x64 or not?
Thx -Ron
Hi Ron,
Yes, sorry about the confusion. The ReadME file is correct. I’ve corrected my post to avoid future confusion.
