Does anyone on here use Reaper ? My SD3 works perfectly in stand alone and in Tracktion but when I use Reaper I get the message `Audio engine inactive, check your audio device`. I`m using the same audio device for all three, same settings ?
Any ideas ?
Hi, you can try with un-checking the ‘Close Audio Device when…’ options in Preferences > Audio in Reaper.

Thanks John, This is clearly a Reaper problem rather than SD3 (I`m new to Reaper) SD3 works through fx tab on the top line of the input ,but not through the fx input on the lower line. It`s got to be me being stupid, thanks for your help.
When I first got SD3 I was using Reaper, switched to Logic Pro about 1.5 years ago, and I have had no issue using it within Reaper. I don’t remember it being difficult to setup. So have to say it’s something on your end. Don’t give up, you’ll find the answer. I love the Reaper DAW -more than I do Logic Pro.

Thanked by: topgoonerBryan, If you know Reaper well you might be able to help ? when you open a new input track (in reaper) and the box appears on the left hand side, there are two FX boxes. SD3 works in the one top right, but doesn`t work in the bottom left one. Any reason you can think of ? As SD3 is an instrument rather than an effect I would have thought the bottom left FX would be the one to use.
Can you describe where this “bottom left” FX is? I know where the top right one is on the track box, but not sure about the other one.
It`s actually more or less in the middle, on the left of (input 1) tag. It`s to put FX on your channel as the signal goes on the track (and is printed) as opposed to the other one which can be changed at any time. On the lower of the two lines of controls.
Found it! Never even used that one before…always used the other one. Anyways, mine is working fine here…brings SD3 up just like the top right one does.
By the way…the only time I get the “Audio engine inactive” message is if no tracks are armed, and I click away from Reaper. The message goes away immediately if I re-arm a track. Also, if there are any tracks armed, the message does not appear, even if I click away from Reaper.
