The kicks and snares sounds great when i use them in the kicks and snares ezx, but when I use them in any other ezx (Americana, Custom Shop, Indie Folk, Jazz, Nashville, 70s Rock, Vintage) they sound awful. They all sound like slapping dough – no ring, no room, no punch, no smack – they sound nothing like they do in the Kicks & Snares ezx.
Anyone else experiencing this or is it just me? Has there been an error in the installation, or have I missed something?
Hi,
the sum of the sound depends on which EZX you have loaded when you switch out the Snare, since you do not have the same control over which Microphones to use in EZdrummer 2 as in Superior Drummer 3. The Close sound would be the same but any processing in its path and the microphones it will auto-connect to will differ. I.e. loading the Pearl 6.5×14″ Steve Ferrone Signature (alt.voice) into the Big Rock Drums EZX Default Preset will sound different than loading the same snare into the Americana EZX Fake Towels Preset.

Too bad. The kicks and snares on other ezx´s sounds pretty much the same when mixed with other ezx´s. But the Kicks and Snares ezx have a lot of presets so i guess i can use those to mix parts from other ezx´s.
TT please consider giving us the option in EZD2 to disable the associated FX chains. Allowing us to individually process the drums.

If I hear what your asking we can already do that… The fx are on the mixer channels and fx knobs we can turn them off and route instruments directly to the DAW and then processes them.. It’s that what you’re asking?

Thanked by: Robert ShaploThanks for the reply Oneway.
I wasn’t sure if turning down the fx knobs actually completely disables them ? Is this the case ?
What I’ve been doing is, in EZX AltRock for example the ‘original mix’ preset appears to have no fx attached to it. I would use that as a starting point and add my chosen drums there. I don’t have all the EZX’s but I’d guess that others may have a similar ‘original mix’ preset with no fx attached. Though it would be much more user friendly if TT would either add a way to disable fx on all their presets or at least add one preset to all EZXs that has no fx chain to use as a starting point.
As far as the video I didn’t catch where he actually disabled or bypassed the fx chain. He seemed to just break the tracks down to separate tracks in his daw. Did I miss that ?
Thanks…

Yeah I think you have it…Go to the basic presets for your kits and if they do have FX then turn them off like example below…..
You are right the vid didn’t show how to do that (shut off FX but my pic shows it) but it does show how to break them out of TT into individual tracks to process them yourself…For more fine tuning you would have to move up to SD3.
BUT EZD2 is excellent and you can actually find great presets and use a parallel bus to enhance them to sound great in a mix too OR just process them to your own flavor as you are talking about with your own plugins….Apple or oranges (-:
Bringing this back as I just installed kicks and snares, and I’m pretty sure the problem is that when trying to open a snare or kick sample with a different kit other than K&S, the snare (or kick) triggers one of the synth samples as opposed to the acoustic snare sample. Not sure if I made myself clear, let me try with a practical example:
When you open snare X in a K&S preset, you get snare top, snare bottom, sn sub, sn skin hi/lo, sn stick, and when you open that same sample – say – in EZdrummer 2 modern, it’s like you’re only hearing sn skin hi as opposed to sn top.
It would make much more sense if “snare top” and “snare bottom” actually matched the same mapping as all other libraries. Is there a way to do this??
There is not.
I would assume Superior Drummer could do it or come close. I don’t own that specific EXZ to confirm.
Does anyone here use EZD2 in their a DAW? If i had this issue, i would finish my project until it’s time to mix. After no more editing was needed, I would open a second instance of EZD2 on a different track that has the snare I want. Mute all Mixer channels (or instruments themselves due to bleed) that I don’t want on the first and second instance of EZD2 and create my hybrid kit for the final mix. If I didn’t want to do workarounds like this I would have to seriously consider SD3.

Thats what I’ve been doing too, but in order to keep the authentic room sound of the full kit, the sample should have the same room, that’s why it should be played within the same preset
