Yes, I’m confused as to why 32-bit Solo can load 32-bit Ezdrummer but 64-bit Cubase 5 can’t. If the .dll is in the same location for both program…IDK.

I guess it could be an issue with the bit bridge in Cubase. If all plugin paths are of the ‘x86’ variety, perhaps you’re using 32-bit Cubase? I don’t have any experience with Windows 8, so I’m not sure what issues that could cause with Cubase 5 ( I doubt Steinberg supports C5 in W8).

I guess I would uninstall everything and install the 64-bit versions of Solo and Ezdrummer. Let them install to the default 64-bit locations. Set the path to the 64-bit version in Cubase. Then, make sure you’re updated with Cubase 5 (5.5.3).

the bottom line is that we do NOT support any bridge technology, so it should be first checked whether Cubase itself is the 32-bit or 64-bit flavour. To me it looks to be the 32-bit version, at least I see no indication to the contrary.

The error suggests in any case that the host is not able to read the registry segment and entry that specifies where the sounds should be, and obviously are since the same EZdrummer hosted in Toontrack solo is able to find them. This could be either because of a flaw in Cubase bridge (assuming we are in fact looking at the 64-bit version), or a Cubase 32-bit unable to resolve the registry virtualisation in place in Windows 64-bit.

Incidentally it is 100% impossible for solo 64-bit to load the 32-bit EZdrummer, so I am a bit skeptical of some information that have been provided herein as a result. Obviously it is difficult to help when we get mislead in directions that are bound to lead nowhere… I also need to point out that Steinberg has just released version 7. I doubt they even validated version 6 for use with Windows 8. I certainly would expect Cubase 5.1 to be unable to cope with some (semi) recent changes in Windows.

    Thanx for the comments guys.

Sorry if I confused you with the info but i thought I was using the 64 bit version of cubase.

Now I know the problem was Cubase 5(I think it was 32 bit after all, because I looked at the about info and could not find a sign of it being 64 bit).

I downloaded a trial of Cubase 6, installed 64 bit version(I had the option during installation to select 32bit or 64 bit) , installed Ez drummer, updated it to the 64 bit version and it is working.

Guess I’ll be looking for a newer version of my DAW. Thanx for the help.

Any chance you know some good free 64bit DAWs for Windows 8 while I save money for Cubase????

I use EZKeys2, EZBass, EZDrummer3, and Superior Drummer3 in almost all may projects.
All previous versions of Cubase I can take MIDI from the track line and drag-copy into either one of these Toontrack Programs so I can make changes, then drag it back into the project track…
Cubase 14 Pro will not let me do this.
I have to load a project into Cubase 13 Pro, make my adjustments, save, and load back into Cubase 14 Pro if I want to use it.
I don’ know if it is only my copy, but I wish it could be fixed.

Thanks for reporting this issue. We can see that Steinberg is aware of the issue and that this should be fixed in an upcoming update to Cubase 14. https://forums.steinberg.net/t/cubase-14-pro-and-toontrack-products/948731/8
