I’ve figured out how to record and edit the bass drum track in the MultiOut template. Now, I’m trying to record the snare, HH, etc. While the keys trigger the sound and the signal is registering on the correct tracks’ meters, I don’t see how I can record on these proper tracks as only the Bass drum track has the “R” record button. What am I missing? Do I need more coffee?
Cheers
The “other” tracks are aux (or auxiliary) tracks, which in Pro Tools ‘speak’ means it receives audio from another source (in this case Superior) on a bus. You can’t track MIDI or audio information on an aux track, it just ‘listens’ so to speak. To ‘track’ the snare drum, you have a couple of choices. 1) Track the snare on the same ‘instrument’ track you have the kick recorded on, selecting the merge option on the pro-tools transport. OR 2) Create a separate MIDI track for each instrument (drum for example) or group (toms for example) you want and set the output target as EZDrummer. (I actually find this approach quite messy and prefer option 1 as you can still select each MIDI event/note (or a group of them) and process separately in the MIDI editor.
I hope this helps a little….

Thanks Brad! Now I understand that they are AUX inputs, that all makes sense and since the Kick drum’s track is stereo, I guess it’d register panning, etc. and the only thing I’d be missing out on would be adding effects to individual drums, cymbals, etc.
Yes panning would still be as defined in EZDrummer through each aux track, which allows you insert whatever FX plug-in you would like on each aux track.
