I have been researching and trying all that I know for the last 3 hours to find out why my ezd2 track on pro tools isn’t sounding in playback. I have the latest Protools 2020.5 for my daw, I have a universal audio twin x duo and 2019 iMac 27″ Catalina 10.15.3. I installed my ezd2 two days ago and installed the updates. I can play it as standalone, but not use the playback in my pro tools session.
I tried looking into my I/O for protools under my instrument stereo track and it doesn’t show Toontrack/ezdrummer 2.
I found out that having different 32/64 bit for either programs will not work correctly. I saw that my daw is 64 bit. I haven’t been able to see anywhere in my product management, or installation about how many bits my ezd 2 has and how to go about knowing where or how to look for it to use 64 bit, in case I don’t have it installed.
Other than that, I don’t know why it’s not showing up in my pro tools session. I know I’m supposed to use a stereo instrument track. I’ve also used midi before and that didn’t work either.
Thank you for your help.

Hi,
if you open the Product Manager and go to the EZdrummer 2 product, then ‘Show Details’ and then ‘Installation Info’, what does the AAX entry say?
Your post is slightly confusing me and it could be read as if you are running the Standalone and are trying to link that into Pro Tools rather than Inserting the EZdrummer 2 Instrument plug-in on your Stereo Instrument Track in Pro Tools.

Hi John,
The installation info says aax 2.1.8 under installed versions. It is also installed as ezdrummeraax plugin in everything written by Brad in the previous comment.
I made a sample track in the standalone, made a instrument stereo track and dragged from the standalone into the instrument track. It shows up and I can edit, but I can’t hear any playback within that track. I searched for any kind of I/O for the instrument track, but it doesn’t show anything to do with toontrack/ezdrummer. Even before I dragged anything, I can’t find any source for an instrument plug in on my stereo instrument track. The plug in section for the instrument track isn’t even available to click for options.
Thank you,
David
The standalone EZDrummer does not communicate with Pro Tools. In a Pro Tools session, create a stereo instrument track and insert EZDrummer into it as a multichannel plugin, as you would any other plugin.
I have a couple of screen shots which hopefully will help.
