Hi – I was using Cubase SX3 but now I’ve changed to protools – don’t ask why – nightmare to relearn everything! I could only afford the m-powered protools so I’m on that.
However when I was using it with Cubase I could use multitrack drum settings so that I had a mixer channel per drum part and was able to add compressors/effects to say just the kick drum or just the snare etc.
I cannot for the life of me work out how to do this in Protools. I change the ezdrummer mixer to multi but nothing changes in protools mixer, it is still just a stereo instrument track and I want the individual drum parts on the mixer.
PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO DO THIS!!!!
Matt
Hi Matt,
there is a Pro Tools MultOut Template Session in the Free Downloads section.
In a nutshell;
The plugin has 8 Stereo outputs and these (apart from the first that is connected to the plugin output) can be assigned to Track Inputs in the Pro Tools mixer.
Create AUX Tracks and set their Inputs to ‘EZdrummer 3 L-R’, etc.

How about mono aux inputs?
I need to record the performance as audio in pt le 7.4 mac. I’d like to record kick and snare as mono audio tracks, then a stereo toms track, stereo OH, and stereo room.
Are the kick and snare samples all true stereo? Am I losing fidelity somehow? A template with 8 outs as follows make more sense to me.
out 1 kick
out 2 snare
out 3&4 toms
out 5&6 hat and OH L and R
out 7&8 room + compressed room
It that even possible?
Hi,
sorry for the delay on this one.
No and yes would be the answer
First, every EZdrummer expansion has its own microphone setup so designing a Template as described above would work with the POP/ROCK expansion but not with Twisted Kit, Claustrophobic or Latin Percussion.
You could make your own, however, if it’s what you would use.
Simply pan, e.g. the Kick to the Left in the EZdrummer mixer and the Snare to the Right. Set both to output ‘Trk2’.
Create 2 new Mono Aux Tracks in the Pro Tools mixer and set their Inputs to ‘plugin>EZdrummer> EZ 2.L’ (for Kick) and ‘plugin>EZdrummer> EZ 2.R’ (for Snare).
Follow the same procedure for the rest of the microphone faders in the EZ mixer. You could let the AMB stereo microphone be routed to the plugin’s output (Trk1).
When you’re done, save your own Pro Tools Template and/or EZdrummer mixer preset.
Best Regards,
John
