Hi everyone,
I just purchased EZ drummer after years of using a BOSS Dr. Rhythm 770, and computer recording is a bit new for me.
However, I have figured out how to route all the drums correctly to Pro Tools 7.4, and hear the various fills and grooves that come with EZ drummer, but my goal is to create my own beats from scratch using the drum sounds of EZD. I know after tinkering around with the midi instrument track in pro that i can pencil in the hits (which would take god knows how long) but i can also record them and quantize them to a click track. However, lets say I initially lay down the kick and snare pattern; How do i now lay down the remaining drums/cymbals on the same instrument track without overwriting the previous kick and snare beat i made? I created a new instrument track and routed EZ drummer through it, however, the room mics no longer work the right way. Any idea how to create the midi file by punching in the hits my self with several passes like im used to with my trusty old drum machine? Thanks so much for any advice on this.

Hi,
in the MIDI Transport view (check View Menu>Transport if it isn’t visible), there’s an icon that looks like two arrows joining into one; click this to Merge MIDI recording passes, otherwise each pass overwrites the previous.
There’s some kind of oddity with the Merge MIDI not working if you have Loop Recording enabled IIRC but just enable Loop Play, select an area and hit Record and it will loop record your MIDI.
Best Regards,
John
