    Create a new track in the arrange page. A ‘virtual instrument’ track.
    Click on the track insert in PT mixer page and you should have a list of plug-ins presented, including EZdrummer.

    I would check the specifics but I am not sure you can add any 3rd party (non-Avid) virtual instruments to Protools SE. I believe it’s marketed at the beginner and comes bundled with certain hardware. The idea is to get you interested in PT enough to upgrade to a full version.

    The last line of the Protools SE FAQ pretty much lays that out;

    OK, I have painted myself into a corner as I bought EZ Drummer today thinking I could use it with ProTools SE.
    What is my best option now? Upgrade ProTools? Honestly, at my level of ability, SE was plenty for me and I want to be able to use this drum software – but need the most economical option?

    One more point of reference – I am using the M-Audio Fast Track interface with Pro Tools SE v8.0.3

    Pro Tools SE no matter what version is limited to only the virtual instruments installed with it. If you want to use Pro Tools with 3rd party plug-ins, you’ll have to upgrade, otherwise perhaps look at another DAW, Reaper, Studio One, Cubase, etc, etc…. many involve a less financial commitment than PT. Another option would be to see if you can find a full PT9/8 license somewhere, but with used software it’s buyer beware….

    I had this problem. Run both Pro Tools SE and EZ Drummer as an administrator, then it’ll work – you can drag and drop the midi files from EZ Drummer in to Pro Tools SE. This leads to the problem I’m about to post though and is probably connected to yours – it’ll drag the midi patterns across but not associated sounds, so if you’ve upgraded the kit, like I have to Drum Kit From Hell, it plays back on Pro Tools far less quality drum sounds. Can anyone help with this?

    You shouldn’t run EZdrummer in Solo at the same time as you run ProTools.
    EZdrummer is primarily a plug-in and can be opened up on a stereo
    track in ProTools.
