Maybe I spoke too soon, and I just didn’t understand how cantabile works but with the configuration displayed below, both drumkits are active and play immediately.

Not sure how it all relates to songs, but thought I would try.

    CantabileSD3-copy

Mac Studio M1 Max, RAM 64 GB, 1TB Drive, OSX 12.x/13.x and Windows 10 (VM)
DAW: Studio One Pro (always up to date)
DTX Express III (Extreme triggers), Nektar LX88
    OWC Thunderbay Mini (4 X 1TB Sata SSD), Express 4M2 (4 X 2TB M.2 SSD), Envoy Express (1TB M.2 SSD)
Presonus Quantum, Faderport & Faderport 8
    Black Lion Sparrow Mk2 A/D, FMR-RNP-RNC, MIDI Xpress 128, BM5A, KRK VXT4, Equator D5
    2020 Macbook Pro 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD Audio(mobile rig)

Well just to confuse things even more….. I have it working now as designed. I have 3 songs each with different EZXs in Superior Drummer (they are more RAM friendly) Songs 1-2 have different EZXs and song 3 has 2 drummers running different EZXs with MIDI in different spots (verse and chorus) and they all load up when I start Cantabile.

So… sorry, it’s working on my Virtual Windows 10 system, seemingly as designed.

The plot thickens. So when you start Cantabile Brad do you see the loading window as it preloads? And then when you later double click the SD3 instances there to see SD3 there is no sample loading in SD3 at that point in the top right corner?

Yes and to make matters worse (or better) I put different MIDI grooves in each SD3 instance so I can make sure as soon I select the song and hit space…. it starts playing…. no intervention required… ugh…

    Sorry…

I used to get a lot of level 42 jibes but I guess they are not as well known these days. I don’t mind by the way. I find rooms of Hansa a mixed bag. I primarily bought it for rota toms and octabahns. I’m not mad on the snare drums and tend to use ones out of d&d or the sd3 kits. I do use the kits and find the dry small kits great for 70s retro. I haven’t got it in front of me at the moment to go into detail as all my gear is in storage until I move into my new house. Very frustrating

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

I thought level 42 were one of the best bands from that time in the 80’s, high rotation (CD rotation… get it….) in my Honda I was driving then…

Agreed, Level 42 was always high on my list and Mark King is one of bass guitar heroes.

I think Hansa is geared more towards finished or mix ready songs than raw drum sounds themselves. Great for guys like me who do drum programming. Probably why Michael Ilbert was quite suitable for recording EZ Drummer 3’s Core Library.
