Hey. New to this. Just installed everything I and it all seems to work in standalone mode, except for my Post Rock ezx. It gives me an install error message saying:
Could not copy “EZX2_Post-Rock/Sounds/sounddb1.obw”. Try again?
Any ideas? A quick search lead me to a dead link. For what it is worth, I installed ezdrummer 2, Action! and Jazz ezx’s without issue. The standard kits work fine as well, and everything has been downloaded, installed, authorized and updated to the nth degree via the Product Manager.
The install log should contain a more accurate error. Open it from the File menu in the installer.

2018-12-09 08:23:48: Trying to copy file EZX2_Post-Rock/Sounds/soundb1.obw
2018-12-09 08:23:48: Error: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Toontrack\EZDrummer\EZX2_Post-Rock\Sounds\soundb1.obw is not writable, aborting.
how about that? that came up a bunch toward the end. the last thing was this, also similar:
12/10/2018 3:54:20 AM: Error: Failed to write data to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Toontrack\EZDrummer\EZX2_Post-Rock\Sounds\soundb1.obw”
this was after i extracted all the files. i’m putting the files on an external drive, which was worked for the other ezx’s, so i don’t know if that is an issue.
Well, for some reason, this installer is trying to install to the internal drive. Does the Product Manager still show the other EZXs as installed?
Please open Command Prompt and issue these two commands and show me what it says:
reg query HKLM\SOFTWARE /v HomePath /S
reg query HKCU\SOFTWARE /v HomePath /S

it sure does show them as installed. it shows them all as installed, and they all work perfectly, save for the post rock. the only interesting thing i noticed is that the post rock is the only product that doesn’t have any checkmarks with parentheses around them. the rest all have one; usually “download”, but some have the “install” check mark in parentheses.
as for the prompts, i got 1 match for the first and 0 for the second one, as shown below.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Toontrack\Superior\EZDrummer
HomePath REG_SZ C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Toontrack\EZDrumme
r\
and
End of search: 0 match(es) found.
Thanks. Okay, all the EZXs are apparently on the internal disk then, in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Toontrack\EZDrummer.
Is there a folder EZX2_Post-Rock there? It said “EZX2_Post-Rock\Sounds\soundb1.obw is not writable.” If you click “Install Product” in Product Manager, a newer version of the installer software will be used and it will/may write a more accurate reason for the failure to the log.
A checkmark in parentheses at “Download” means that the download is no longer in the download folder but the product has been installed so that the download is no longer needed. A checkmark in parenthesis at “Install” means that some optional component of the product is not installed (for example the 32-bit software), while all required components are. Click Show Details > Installation Info to see what is and what is not installed.

ok, i got it! i uninstalled everything, threw it away, verified and redownloaded, then installed again via the installer. its working great now.
two questions now: is it safe to throw everything away in the “clear up disk space” tab? and could i somehow move all this over to the external drive, or does it want to be right where it is? i specified the external drive as the download location in the options tab but that didn’t seem to do it. if it has to be there, then that’s fine. i’ll find another way to clear up space.
Glad to hear!
You can use “Move Downloads” in Options for that purpose. But you don’t really have to keep the downloads since they can be downloaded again whenever you’ll need to reinstall something, so “Clean Up” should be fine to use.
