I have been saving songs in Superior Drummer 3 to a midi file and then importing them into my DAW. Hardly efficient, right? I haven’t been able to drag a song into a midi track in the DAW and my guess is it isn’t possible. Or is it? Anyone able to do this and can help me out?

Which DAW are you using? I use Reaper on Windows 10 and I can drag MIDI from the song track in SD3 and drop it into a track in Reaper.
I can drag no problem into Cubase Pro 10.5 on Windows.
Windows 10 and Cubase 10.0.60. No problems here. I do it every day.
Cubase Pro, Korg Kronos, M-50, Hammond XK-1c, Toontrack SD3, EZBass w/lots of expansions, many VSL Vi's, Shreddage 3 everything, and shit-tons of FX plugins.
See my signature for deets, but I’m on macOS Catalina and Digital Performer 10.11. Everything usually works great in my setup. DP has some similarities to ProTools but not the exactly the same. It’s a robust DAW and I’ve used for decades. Given other responses I think it’s likely me that’s the problem. Not the software. 😁
