I have run into a variety of issues trying to do what MUST be one of the most important capabilities needed for many users, that being the simple transfer of a project from EZ 2 to SD3.
I have run into different issues when trying to do this:
Some of the issues have been:
**SD3 won’t load the EZ 2 project
**Having to manually put a saved drum kit from EZ 2 into the SD3 drum user pre sets folder for SD 3 to see it.
** Once I loaded a saved kit with mixer, it still didn’t sound right and required me to manually re-connect the routing for all parts in the SD3 mix window.
I don’t really want any response to those problems. What I cannot believe is how lacking you guys are in CLEAR tutorials!
This has to be job #1. You guys successfully upgrade a user from EZ2 to SD3. Great! Please man, in this post, a step by step tutorial on how to transfer an EZ2 project to SD3 , with the result being that they sound exactly the same when played back.
Thank you.
Dave
Im also interested to know some of this.
specifically can i export/import or convert my EZD2 projects to SD3? even if its just the midi track would be great!
Hi,
the MIDI on the Song Track can be exported from EZD2 and then imported to your SD3 Song Track, please check each plugin’s Song Track Menus for export/import.
User EZD2 Presets cannot be opened in SD3. It has been requested by users here on the Forum, so I presume it’s on ‘the wishlist’.
Factory Presets can be loaded once the EZX is loaded in SD3 and they should sound the same.

To expand John’s answer: to get MIDI from EZdrummer 2 to Superior Drummer 3 – you can also save the MIDI in EZdrummer 2 to your User MIDI folder, and it will show up in the User MIDI folder in Superior Drummer 3. The advantage of doing it this way is that the blocks will be kept separately, and their type (Verse, Chorus etc) will be kept, e.g. the song structure will look the same.
We wanted to add more support for importing EZdrummer 2 User Presets into Superior Drummer 3, but it was complicated since the background of the programs differ in lots of ways. We have noted is a feature request from our users, and we I hope we can solve it in a future update. Thanks for the feedback!
