The percussion in SD3 are main future hit instruments (hand claps, shakers, maracas, etc). If you are looking for something more elaborate, there are expansions that have percussions such as the Latin Percussion & Latin Cuban Percussion EZXs (I have the latter and love it). There are also some percussion instruments included with various EZXs and SDXs. It really depends on what you are after.

Hi all, new here so bear with me 😊

Is there any percussion in SD3. Mine seem to be grayed out.

I see there is an expansion pack, but any luck in the original version?

While looking for the SD3  version, I see there is a sound library called percussion:

    Superior Drummer 3 plug-in version 3.3.6 (build 35757) [64-bit VST 3]

    SOUND LIBRARIES
    Superior Drummer 3 – Electronic version 1.0.0
    Superior Drummer 3 – Percussion version 1.3.0
Superior Drummer 3 – Preset Sounds version 1.0.3
    Superior Drummer 3 version 1.3.0

    MIDI LIBRARIES
    Superior Drummer 3 version 1.3.0

But I cant seem to get to it in the program.

    Any thoughts?

    Best regards

    Hi there,

The percussion instruments, like the electronic instruments are used in various presets. If you want to add them to a kit and save it as your own preset, you can certainly do that.

I’ll add a tambourine; On the Drums Tab > Add Instrument > Search for Instrument

    Add-Instrument-2

Scroll down and the Library column and select; Superior Drummer 3 Percussion

    Select-Percussion

Scroll down the list of instruments and highlight the one you want and click “Add Instrument” on the bottom right.

Of course Jord beat me to it as I was taking my time creating a multimedia extravaganza! 🙂

    Awesome, thanks a lot guys!

    Definitely helps me a lot.

I will have to look into an expansion pack also down the line.

+1  I was going to mention Fields of Rock and Stories have percussion rooms, but IMO the Fields of Rock is bigger/better, plus it is also one of if not my favourite SDX anyway.

It is a big investment financially but the sounds from Orchestral Percussion SDX are awesome. I use this extensively for my percussion and I either play my own percussion via my ekit or use the MIDI from this SDX (or the EZX Latin percussion and Latin Cuban Percussion as Jord mentioned – I have both). But I always play through the OP SDX as the sounds are fantastic but also give the same infinite flexibility for adjustment in sound via drums tab and mixer tab (with multi output options) the same as in Superior Drummer. See screenshot example.

    I have the following products
ACTION DRUMS MIDI SUPERIOR DRUMMER 3
    LIBRARY SUPERIOR DRUMMER 3
I would like to use the percussion instruments.
As described above, I have the percussion instruments e.g. Tambourine found. Unfortunately I can’t play any grooves.
When you press the play button you don’t hear anything. Midi data is not displayed in the tracks either.
If MIDI data from a drum is displayed then I also hear that track.
By the way, there are also some other grooves where you don’t hear these drum tracks or where no waves are displayed.
How can you, for example, transfer the tambourine to the grid editor if no groove is available as MIDI data?
Is there perhaps a helpful documentation or learning videos somewhere?

    Hi GeorgH,

you need to add a Tambourine Pad Instrument for those grooves to play back.
On the DRUMS page, click the ‘Add Instrument’ button in the upper left corner, then go Future Hit Instrument > Tambourine.
Once added, those grooves will play back when you audition them in the GROOVES browser. You can change the Tambourine sounds by right-clicking the pad.

    BR,
    John
