In Pro Tools I put SD3 on an instrument track and set it to multi channel out. Set up aux tracks to receive the various channels. One thing that’s always annoying is there’s no aux input 1/2 available. Every aux input > plugin > SD3 > channel starts with “S3/4.” I have to either set the kick drum (usually first in SD3’s mixer and thus output 1-2) to some high number, or step all the channels up by one so that Pro Tools can see everything. What gives?
(I’ve been seeing this forever, I think even in SD2. Finally asking.)
I work in PT as well and the answer to your problem is easy – the instrument track that has SD3 on it has the output of the kick drum and that IS aux 1/2. In the output field of that instrument track select ‘new track’ then when the track creation box comes up create an audio track (select stereo if you need a stereo track). A new audio track will be created with it’s input routing already set to receive the output from the SD3 instrument track that has the kick drum audio from SD3 which is the output from channel 1/2 of the SD3 mixer..
If you care to email me I can send you the PT track preset I use. I have everything set up so that the instrument track for SD3 and all the aux tracks and audio tracks and busses with any plugins I need are already on it. All I have to do is to recall that preset from the ‘new track’ dialog box and have like 15 PT tracks all ready to go.
