I’ve been using Superior Drummer 3 (SD3) for years with no problem. I used it before with Catalina. Ever since I switched to Big Sur I have the intermittent orange triangle with the exclamation point appear when clicking the arrow to hear a sound sample in Grooves and no sound is available.
If if close the plug-in and reopen it, the sound is there and no triangle – for a while. Then the pattern returns. I’m using SD3 3.2.7, Big Sur 11.6.1, Digital Performer 11.02, Vienna Ensemble Pro 7.0.1120-Nov 23 2021.
Has anyone had similar problems? Please advise on what to do.
Thanks!
Does the same issue happen when you use SD3 standalone, versus in DP or VEP?

DAW: Studio One Pro (always up to date)
DTX Express III (Extreme triggers), Nektar LX88
OWC Thunderbay Mini (4 X 1TB Sata SSD), Express 4M2 (4 X 2TB M.2 SSD), Envoy Express (1TB M.2 SSD)
Presonus Quantum, Faderport & Faderport 8

I’ve tested it in DP alone – without VEP – and so far no problem. But in VEP there is a problem.

Superior Drummer 3 version: 3.2.7
Operating system: macOS Big Sur (11)
Sorry I don’t use VEP therefore I am of little help.
Perhaps contact support through FAQ.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve been in touch with VSL/VEP support and Toontrack support. VEP has crash reports which are sent directly to VEP. VEP informed me that they have reviewed them and found no issues with VEP. They said that they would forward copies of the crash reports to Toontrack support for their review.
So far, this still remains a mystery. But the good news is that SD3 does appear to work fine in my DAW when not running in VEP. So, for the moment, I’ll run SD3 without VEP. This same issue is happening with IK Multimedia Hammond B-3X.
Thanks again for your reply!
See https://www.toontrack.com/forums/topic/installing-on-apple-silicon-macbook-pro/, maybe VEP needs to be given access to something in the privacy settings?

Good point. Do you have your samples on an external drive?
If so, try giving VEP Full Disk Access. System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Scroll down to Full Disk Access (Unlock with password) “+” find the VEP application and added it to the list.
See if that changes anything.
