Peace everyone,
So I have an m-audio keystation 88 keyboard, and I am using it in EZkeys, by GOD’s Grace.
I noticed however that my C4 (middle C) shows up as C3 in EZKeys. All my inputs are an octave below.
Is there a fix for this, GOD willing?
what is happening there?
thank you again 🙂
EZKeys starts their Keyboards at C0 while apparently the m-audio starts at C1. I think both are a normal conventions. Should not be a problem. ??

Thanked by: Al.Hopefully someone will correct me if I’m wrong. It’s been a while since I looked this up.
Midi numbers are always the same. Midi notes can be one octave off depending on the manufacturer. I think I remember the Japanese manufacturers have a different note.
My Roland notes tend to be off sometimes, but the midi numbers are always on.
Physically, you could always hit the octave up/down on your controller to compensate.

Thanked by: Al.To further elaborate on Shootie’s post, the difference in notes is due to the MIDI note naming conventions that has existed between Yamaha and Roland for the past 42 years (yes, it has been that long). While the note numbers themselves never change, Yamaha adopted C3 as middle C based on their original MIDI offerings of 61-note keyboards back then. Roland pretty much went all out at the beginning with a full range of keyboards with full range digital pianos and started their MIDI note naming at C0, making C4 middle C.
While cosmetic, there is no functional difference and as Shootie said, the note numbers are correct.
However, it wouldn’t hurt to log a feature request in the Requests & Feedback forum to have a preference to choose between the Yamaha & Roland MIDI note naming standards. Perhaps between all products, since MIDI is used throughout.

Sounds like a fancy word for ancient 😈
I still remember when MIDI came out… no more futzing around building hardware triggers.
