Notes ringing over each other

I have selected an intro for a tune but the notes ring over each other in an unmusical way. I have tried selecting “Remove Overlaps” and it works but only while it is currently playing. As soon as I stop and restart, it happens again. The notes on the grid editor are short in length and do not over lap. I have even tried saving the file after selecting Remove Overlaps but it still does not work. Wondering if anyone has experienced this issue and is there something I am missing.  Worse case scenario, I will have to choose another groove.

Just did.  Tried all three options. Is there a way to turn sustain off for a specific groove? Forgot to mention it plays correctly when I audition it  but not when I drag it to the song track

Delete the Sustain Blocks. You can Control+A the Sustain Block Lane.
