Yeah its not a SD3/ Toontrack issue though.
Could wrong midi port for all we know. Got to be ( Midi) out to the in of your Comp.
Maybe the Yammy is not sending out midi on channel 10 or something in that area
maybe you need a Midi driver, maybe it windows is not working it as expected.

from where are you monitoring (or intending to monitor) SuperiorDrummer3?

I don’t know anything about the Yamaha DD-75, but AFAIK you will only be able to monitor SuperiorDrummer3 thru the Yamaha DD-75,
    (1) if it can be configured as a direct audio output interface for your laptop, or
    (2) if you can route the SD3 audio from your laptop to the Yamaha DD-75 via analog audio connections.

Very helpful thanks a lot Scott! I had it on DirectSound (direct audio out) because I was to do what you stated in (2);however, you idea (1) sounded better, easy to configure and it worked.

With option (1) I feel there’s a small lag. How to I get rid of that lag?

Is there a good external device for my laptop that can improve my direct audio output interface?

In SuperiorDrummer3, reduce the buffer size to reduce the ‘lag’ (otherwise known as ‘latency’).

Also, in that scenario, I imagine that reducing the lag might also be controlled
by reducing the Yamaha DD-75 buffer size in whatever laptop software or driver the Yamaha provides.

Your choices for an audio interface are many & varied,
    limited only by your budget,
connectivity to your laptop (i.e.; USB2, USB3, USBC, Firewire, Thunderbolt)
and whether you might someday want to use it to record into a DAW (Garageband, Logic, Pro Tools, etc).
If so, you should probably consider how many inputs you might want to record simultaneously
and what audio output options you want to have available.

What’s the proper name for the device because I can’t find anything online? Is it a amplifier, a channel audio adapter, a sound card or something else?

I use to play music from my phone to my Yamaha while playing and it sounded great. When I try to do the something with my laptop It sound terrible, I can’t even control the volume on one device when I play sound from two differ device (Phone and Yamaha).

    It’s called an “audio interface”.
