    Hi there,

You should be able to change the download path in Product Manager to an external drive and folder. Keep in mind that installer still needs to be run to extract the files to configure the SDX. That can be on the same drive and will actually run quite quickly, but must be in a different folder than the one you downloaded the installer and files to. Hope this makes sense.

I can’t remember whether Death and Darkness is 2 separate downloads

I have been running an i7 iMac with 32gb RAM 1TB internal SSD and 7 external SSDs. 5 x 1TB and 2 x .5TB, plus 10TB of spinning disks for backup. I have a lot of sample libraries. YMMV.

Mac Studio M1 Max, RAM 64 GB, 1TB Drive, OSX 12.x/13.x and Windows 10 (VM)
DAW: Studio One Pro (always up to date)
DTX Express III (Extreme triggers), Nektar LX88
    OWC Thunderbay Mini (4 X 1TB Sata SSD), Express 4M2 (4 X 2TB M.2 SSD), Envoy Express (1TB M.2 SSD)
Presonus Quantum, Faderport & Faderport 8
    Black Lion Sparrow Mk2 A/D, FMR-RNP-RNC, MIDI Xpress 128, BM5A, KRK VXT4, Equator D5
    2020 Macbook Pro 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD Audio(mobile rig)

    Hi,

    adding to Brad’s answers:

    1. hit ‘Cmd’+’,’ or go to the ‘Toontrack Product Manager’ Menu to enter the PM Preferences and set your Downloads location.
    2. MINIMAL INSTALLATION.
      “Close Mic Setup”
This is a basic install of the library featuring all close, primary overhead and ambience microphones.
      Death: approx. 21 GB
      Darkness: approx. 16 GB

      PARTIAL INSTALLATION.
      “Default Mic Setup”
This is a partial install of the library featuring all close, primary overhead, ambience and all room microphones. This is the minimum install for presets to sound as intended.
      Death: approx. 54 GB
      Darkness: approx. 49 GB

      FULL INSTALLATION.
      “Full Mic Setup”
This is the full install of the library featuring all microphones and bleed.
      Death: approx. 114 GB
      Darkness: approx. 70 GB

    3. These days, laptops can be more than adequate for most music related productions. Personally, I run Mac Pro’s @ work but those are studio rooms that are constantly running. For my home and portable work, I have been using MacBook Pro’s for a couple of years and the power available is fantastic. Of course there are PC laptops shining as well, just haven’t had the opportunity to work with one.
    4. With a modern OS and RAM hungry VI’s like SD3, I would recommend 32GB RAM. When it comes to storage, you seems to never have enough but I have told myself I can’t use more than 4TB for VI sounds, if I Ould perform some housekeeping I would most likely settle for half of that.

    BR,
    John
