I recently upgraded to Win 7 (64bit), clean install. I reinstalled Beatstation(64bit installer) and it plays in standalone mode just fine. The VST installed to SteinbergVST plugins where all the other ones are located. However, it doesn’t appear in the plugin list along with my other plugins. Of course, Ableton is a 32 bit DAW. Could it be that Ableton can’t run Beatstation 64 bit? The about dialog in standalone says that I’m running the 64bit VST. Will I have to install the 32bit version of Beatstation instead?
Can I have the best of both worlds? I like the way the 64bit standalone runs. Seems more stable than when I used the 32bit version in Vista 32. Can I just install the 32 bit VST but keep the 64bit standalone?
I installed the 32 bit version on top of the 64 bit as per the instructions but Ableton still doesn’t recognise it.
I know it’s obvious, but have you gone through all the VST plug-in set up protocols in Ableton, as described on this web page:
http://www.ableton.com/pages/faq/vst_and_plugins
Thanks for that link. Tip #4 was the charm. Holding down the Alt key makes it do a more thorough scan and it finally saw the 32-bit version of the dll. Unfortunately, all my IK Multimedia instrument VSTi’s remain invisible. Live only sees TRacks 3 Deluxe. Any clues there? heh, heh, I know but IK doesn’t have a forum.
