Hi guys,
Im just starting my 10 day evaluation, to see if EZ Drummer offers a solution for me.
Im really hoping that someone has a similar workflow to me and that they can give me some pointers using EZD in a non DAW environment.
I dont use a DAW at all and track everything on an Analog console into an Alesis HD24 (two actually, giving 48 tracks).
So my desired workflow with EZD would be that I can load my guide track – typically just guitar and click (as a MP3 or Wav) and then visually build my drum track in parallel within the EZG UI. (So for example, where it says ‘Drag Midi Song Blocks Here’ my song wav/mp3 would ‘ideally’ sit above that).
Then after I would export the Kick, Snare, Toms and Cymbals separately so I can ‘record’ them into my Alesis HD24 and pan and mix the track on my analog console.
I so far, cant see any way to support my workflow, but im sure there must be??
Trying to start my mp3 in quicktime and then attempting to us EZD to build drums to that is fustrating and impossible. So that is a complete show stopper for me. How is this supposed to work? Maybe it doesnt and is suitable only for DAWs?
Many thanks for any solutions.
cheers,
Gerard.
I’m not aware of any means to trigger or sync a standalone MIDI instrument or sampler
to an audio recording other than by use of a DAW-like application.
I believe that the standalone (non-DAW) version is typically used by drummers in live scenarios.
