Hi,
another noob question:
I have Cubase Essential 5 running on Win 7 and cannot hear anything when I add a EZplayer VST Instrument.
There is an error message when adding an EZplayer instrument saying (sorry for german):
“Diese Mixer-Konfiguration erwartete EZplayer von”Output 1: Stereo,”.
-> Das Instrument hat zur Zeit Output 1: Mono,.
-> Der Instrumentkanal generiert kein Signal
What am I doing wrong? Do I have to upgrade to a higher Cubase version to use EZplayer pro?
Thanks & sorry for such a noob question,
Daniel
From the EZplayer FAQ:
Known issues with hosts
– Cubase 4/5: complains that EZplayer is mono when inserted on instrument track
The fix is to load EZplayer as described in the EZplayer manual:
1) Inserting the plugin:
• Open Devices > VST Instruments and insert EZplayer
2) Setting up:
• Insert YFDS (Your Favourite Drum Sampler) in the project as described above
• Create a MIDI track and set the Output to YFDS
• Set the Input of this MIDI track to EZplayer
• In EZplayer, choose the appropriate MIDI Output format for YFDS
• Select a groove in EZplayer and press Play
Question for you. What sampler (YFDS in the above instructions) are you using to drive the MIDI in EZplayer? EZplayer will not playback sounds without setting up as described above.

Thanks for answering Scott!
I am using Battery 3 as a sampler (from Native Instruments).
The problem is that I cannot route a midi track to an instrument track, it seems that this feature is locked in “Cubase Essential”.
Is this possible?
Thanks again, Daniel
I’m not familiar with Cubase Essential so it may be a limitation.
In some versions of Cubase you don’t have to load VST instruments to instrument tracks, you use the ‘Open Devices > VST Instruments and insert EZplayer‘ method.

OK. I just downloaded the Cubase 5 Essential manual and yes, you can load VST instruments as Instrument Channels and not just Instrument Tracks. Check the Cubase 5 Essential manual page 111 for the details. Then, follow the above directions to load and route properly.
