No Audio Driver? Soundcard compatibility?

You should make sure you’re running the latest version of TTSolo (v.1.1.2) The latest version provides WDM support. You should then be able to select your soundcard from the Audio Device menu.

You don’t need a sequencer to host EZdrummer. TTSolo can act as your host. But if you want to create drum tracks to make songs, you would need some type of sequencer that can load VSTi (which is what EZdrummer is).

As to which sequencer. Well, that is a can of worms. Here’s the compatibility list:

    http://www.toontrack.com/compatibility_list_generic.html

They fall in different price points and have their own ways of doing the same things. Which is right for you? You’ll need to research those that are compatible of EZD and perhaps visit their forums and ask questions there.

Thanks for your reply.  I now understand your reply regarding sequencers and making drum tracks for songs etc and I will sort this out for myself.  Thank you for this info, but I still have a problem with my soundcard.  I note that  you say Toontrack Solo version 1.1.2 supports
WDM, however the problem still needs  resolving.

When I click About (F1) in the ‘Help’ drop down menu on the EZD interface, it says version
Toontrack Solo ver1.1.2.  It is the first install.  I chose the regular install, not the ‘custom’
    one.

Here is my route when I try to run the programme:-
I double click the TTsolo shortcut on my desktop
This loads TT solo but I get a message, “AUDIO ERROR: failed to load audio driver”
I accept this & continue by selecting the default EZD VST path:-    C:Program
    FilesVStPlugins
In the (Toontrack Solo:Drummer1) EZD interface screen, I click the ‘Audio’ drop down menu
(the one at the top next to ‘File’ and select ‘Audio Device…’
A pop up window appears with the message: “Audio Error: No ASIO device available”

I reiterate that I have in my ‘My ComputerDevice Manager’ menus, Creative EMU10K1 Audio Processor (WDM) listed as the Properties of my Audio Device within my Creative SB Live Series soundcard:

    Creative EMU10K1 Audio Processor (WDM)
    Driver Provider is Creative
    Driver version is 5.12.1.296
    Driver date is 28/08/2003

    What should I do?

    Scott, let me update you:-
TTsolo still does not recognise any audio device  – however, I downloaded Sony Acid Music Studio trial version and, following the instructions within that software, Acid communicates with EZDrummer and I can play the kits from within Acid!

So the problem looks as though it’s somewhere within TTsolo?

I think I will probably buy Sony Acid Music Studio, because I am just looking for a basic sequencer to stack drum loops etc and then record them on an external 8track, and by the way, if anybody is reading this looking for a cheap no frills, sequencing software program then I’d ask them to check this one out.  The ‘Show me How’ Tutorials are excellent.  They take you to all parts of the screen to show you where things are another program is obscuring the buttons it wants to show you it will ask you to move your program window to the side!

I can think of a reason why you shouldn’t be getting audio out of TTSolo. The only thing I would suggest is uninstalling it and reinstalling it to see if things straiten themselves out.

But is sounds like you’d want to be using some type of sequencer anyway if you want to stack loops.

Scott, thanks for your help. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling TT Solo.

Just one general question – unrelated: On the Toontrack.com/ezdrummer.asp page, there are MP3 demo tracks.  Can you tell me – Is the 2nd one (EZdrummer demo2) a proper groove that is avaiable in the full version itself?  If so, which one is it, please?
Many thanks for your time and assistance.

I believe there is a prob with Solo recognizing Creative ASIO drivers.
How’s about getting a Audigy card from somewhere – install drivers – and show us
the results you get.  (then you will realize that updating to latest ver. or re-install
    does no good.)

    bob2020,

That’s interesting to hear your comment.  Have you heard of this problem before with Creative?  However, as I commented, as soon as I ran the EZDrummer plugin WITHIN the Sony Acid Music Studio program, I had no problems.  I’ve tried it again on a new session/another day, and it still works by this method so no problem.  I’m going to uninstall TTsolo however, reinstall ,and try it once again.  I’ll post the results here at the weekend.
    Cheers

Hi – we are looking into it. As a last resort, if you really can’t get it to work with the latest solo and up-to-date manufacturer’s drivers (validated for your exact environment – i.e Vista 32 bit or XP 64 bit) then please try the following:

    http://www.asio4all.com/

Note, and it is IMPORTANT , that we make no provision for generic ASIO drivers and that we take no responsibility as to the results of installing drivers not specifically written for your sound card… it should be safe but use your best judgement and decide whether you are sufficiently proficient to attempt installation and if necessary roll back your system.

I’ve seen many references in posts saying that this is the case with EMU10k2x ASIO
which is true for me. Also updating to the latest (last) drivers for Audigy from Creative
website (SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0001.exe) had no effect for me.
That being said. yes ASIO4ALL does work. But ASIO4ALL is a wrapper for WDM drivers (I believe).
This only happens in EZ solo. And NOT when I use EZ as a VSTi in Chainer.
This is not a show-stopper for me, but if solo has a prob with these drivers it should
be acknowledged so folks don’t have to go tearing their hair out – and do re-installs of
    their hardware.
BTW – I love EZDrummer SOooooo much!!!!! Thanx for a great program.

    if it helps any one….

I’m also having this problems with 2 creative sound cards!!

    xfi extreme audio
    audigy 2 zs

none of them are been recognize as asio on TTsolo!

I’m new at this e-drum stuff and i don’t know yet how all of this is working
TTsolo is a host program for SD2?
is there maybe other host that still can work with SD2 with creative asio support…?
I must say that my first experience with SD2 went very very bad…

I play guitar with guitar rig and creative asio with no problems at all
asio4all is a poor alternative by the way…

    Hi,

these Creative sound cards are not mainly designed for use in music production. Toontrack Solo tries to ‘open’ sound cards in 44.1kHz, but these sound cards are basically locked to 48kHz, rendering Toontrack Solo useless. I have no workaround at this moment, but I’ve talked to our main Solo programmer guy at the office and he will look in to it and maybe fix this in a future update.

    Thanks,
