New to drum software and now have EZDrummer 3.
I’m trying to connect with my old Roland TD6 and to a fairly recent laptop, but lots of issues I’m not happy with. So, is the Roland module too old to get the best possible interfacing with my software? In other words, do newer modules have better—more detailed elements to dial-in better performance?
Many thanks…

Whoa! “…MIDI captured…” that’s way out of my league. LOL…I’m just old and too hard to change my ways…I’m lucky enough to just actually play and get my playing recorded to the track. And that’s always been with just a stereo track. (For a spell I did separate the snare and toms to one track and all else to the other😜) I figured this EZ Drummer approach would give me a huge improvement in my usual process😊

Hey fellas…yall still around?? 😜
Sorry to have been away from this so long…so many other things have come up almost daily and have consumed my time…
Moat recent actions have been getting a newer laptop for the software—that ended up a bust as the laptop developed some bigger issues.
I then thought I’d try a desktop unit I have extra—if I recall, WIN7, 4GB memory…so now I have EZD3 on it and up and running…
However, I tried using the Roland TD6v module along with the Donner mesh pads, with the MIDISPORT 2×2 MIDI to MIDI USB connecting to computer. Ended up having about at least a second of latency was all I could muster. (at 64 rate) I could see that under the software MIDI window the only listed items were the MIDISPORT’s 2 lines, and not the Roland module.
At this point I again tried the Donner module and with it (USB MIDI cable connection) it appears to be no latency. So today I’ll continue trying to get a little deeper with the Donner module. More later…

Update: All good now. With some expert guidance in a session with Shootie School and his videos I believe I have everything working fine now.
I ended up dropping the laptop and getting a more beefy computer. And now from my TD6 I’m running into a Presonus Audiobox 96 audio interface, with the outputs routed to my patchbay. Much better performance now. 😊 (Yes I’m still doing things the old-fashioned way, but I’m much older now, and my feeble brain can’t handle too much change with so many around the home projects/fixes to be done—just yesterday my tractor blew a hydraulic pump, so there’s yet another problem to dig into🤪 Shootie Shawn did show me how I could work so much more efficiently, and I promise one day I will get to migrating to your suggestions. ☺️)
thanks for all the help here.
