Please a few questions – I think you’l find this very basic but I am confused and have done considerable reading.
I understand that inserts are to be applied to channel strips and the group bus, aux and master types go into the respective insert slots on those channels.
Should I have individual inserts on each of the components of a multichannel drum set then route all to an aux or group bus with it’s own insert before sending to the master out which will in turn have a mastering insert?
Please forgive the basicness of this question. I just don’t want to be either redundant or put settings that will compete with each other thus degrading things. I also don’t want to overload the computer which I am finding I can do.
So put another way, Tape Drive hats insert on hi hat channel strip send to group bus – group bus for all drums which has analougue Fat Phase insert send to – stereo out which has Sub – Un sub mastering insert on it? As I understand it, they have the compressors built in there, etc. correct?
Thanks very much!

It is quite common for drums to have channel inserts to get the sound you want plus inserts on subs to get the whole kit to glue or pump together and final settings to sit well in the mix, so if your cpu is able that is all fine and normal.
That chain sounds reasonable and should sound great, i would still let your ears be the judge. No harm in experimenting with a bit less too.
When you use Verb and Delay on other stuff dont waste cpu on channel inserting them, share them via using the send and aux (aux insert) in logic.
Great answer, thanks a bunch. I promise you a month ago it would have been a foriegn language but it makes sense! I am excited.
I think I will go with a bit less and take it from there.
