Dear ToonTrack team,
I’ve been using the EZ products or the SD3 for years, the EZ-Bass or SD3 can do something that EZ-Keys can’t yet, so I’m wondering if there will ever be a new version of EZ-Key or an update that has this ability.
Several tracks can be created in EZ-Bass and SD§, which I use when I have dragged the found song parts from the ToonTrack plugins into the DAW, but want to keep them in the timeline for later use. If the DAW starts and there are still parts in the plugins, they will also be played parallel to the DAW. As far as I know, muting in the VSTi plugins does not work.
So I open a new track that I leave empty, which is then also the active track, so nothing is played in parallel and the song parts found can remain in the plugins.

It’s awful customer service, considering the users responding here probably are amongst the most dedicated TT product buyers, for no one from Toontrack to even bother acknowledging or replying to this thread.
We know you’re reading this. Please respond.
or, if you’re (ie: TT support) are not reading this, that’s even worse!

Thanked by: Jens LarsenHi,
Toontrack never comments about future development and the Forum advisors have signed NDA’s. You are right about requests and feedback being read, though.

Thanked by: abstraktron and Jens LarsenHope TT are working on, or at least talking about what they read. (after not commenting ;))
Thanks for the “response”. Nice to know my button pushing skills still work at least😉 I feel like a DJ now.
I’m pretty sure EZKeys 2 (or 3) is in the works, and shouldn’t be too far away, tbh.
EZDrummer 3 and EZBass have proven the new UI/UX design approach, and the fact EZKeys is a key part of the “song stem” bundling approach (only in a few genres atm) indicates it is still a key part of the product mix, despite alternatives like Scalar 2 or CC Epic. I have both those too, but tbh I still think EZKeys in even its current form is still better.
>>Toontrack never comments about future development
As a dev myself I can understand not willing to commit to timelines, for multiple reasons, but I think the cone of silence on a product that’s been out this long is a bit silly.
It’s not like the competition can’t look at your website and products to get some idea of your new product direction, is it?
I also can’t believe Toontrack would be stupid enough not to redevelop it, given the new approach to product development, but then if I was that smart I wouldn’t be hanging about on an internet forum berating a plugin dev for some news about an update😂 . I’d be unhappy to be proven wrong!
PS: Please add some humanisation controls to the song track

Thanked by: Jens LarsenThe best part of the ez/sd software line is the library of midi. I want to be able in ezkeys to drag my midi into a “something like this” area and it shows results with a percentile of similarity. I like to drop an idea in my daw (ableton) and would like to pull that midi in to your analyzer and get, Oh…that’s the blues, or sounds jazzy, here are some others.
Next, song builder feature would be great from the above feature.
Don’t build scaler 2 or CC Epic. Those are inexpensive and we already own them. Don’t build AI/ML either, just a good catalog of well organized midi will do, that’s why I bought your stuff.

Thanked by: Jens LarsenI have to believe TT are building a new EZKeys. But boys, just know, we are all aching for it. The current EZKeys is so ugly I got scurvy just looking at it. We NEEEEEED that update! Lay it on us! Our money is all piled up, waiting.

Thanked by: Jens LarsenAnd THIS is the key reason I abandoned Toontrack products years ago. They just don’t seem like keeping things updated or rejuvinating them in such a way that they nicely integrate into the modern DAW environments. They seem to like to exist in their own little world doing their own little thing. I decided to take a chance after about 10 years of abandoning my EZ Drummer stuff for more modern integratable plugins and purchased EZKeys. Standalone it’s a great little program, but has little ability to seamlessly integrate as a common plugin such as a VST3. Instead I’m finding out through their supplied documentation that the only integration it supports is through YFSG (Your Favorite Sound Generator) which is nowhere to be found even googling it.
I’ll hand it to them, the boys in the backroom who still live at home with their parents, wearing their Metallica t-shirts and chewing on KitKat bars can do some good work if they decide to, but certainly have no allegiance to an installed base of product owners apparently.

All this means is you use midi out in settings to feed EzKeys midi output to any other instrument plugin aka YFSG (Your Favorite Sound Generator). There is no product called YFSG (Your Favorite Sound Generator).
They do keep things updated, as they now have the TT product manager and I regularly get updates for that.
Apart from that, as you can see from my previous replies to this thread, TT has the worst product & customer management strategy ever imo.
Arrogance isn’t a word you want attached to your brand affinity, because while your products may fill a need now, as soon as another brand comes along that is “good enough” but also gets how to treat dedicated customers they can and will drop you like a rock.
I’m not implying here either that “the customer is always right”. They are not, that’s a bs trope, and sometimes you need to fire customers.
What I’m talking about here is some basic communications decency in treating quite obviously dedicated customers with a bit of intelligence and respect when it comes to new product developments in something they have invested much time and energy in using. Word of mouth is your most effective form of advertising, and you’d think a smart company would understand a small amount of upfront work in fostering that has bigger payoffs downstream.
This software is 10 years old. I want an update as badly as you all.
Remember, SD3 took a decade to get out of them. But it did NOT disappoint. So… Maybe R&D is on it and they are ready to release just around the corner? Fingers crossed. Until then, it will do you NO good to complain about it on here. It’s not that they don’t care. They are tight lipped (*as always) with new update. It;s how it’s always been. Just enjoy using it sand when the update finally hits, celebrate! 🙂

Thanked by: Jens LarsenAs you say: 🤞 Hope you’re right about it!
But I surely use the old version frequenly until it happens.
Additional Big Argument to the list of Informal Requests For EZKEYS Update to the level of EZBASS and EZDRUMMER: If you press the delete key in EZBASS and EZDRUMMER it deletes a selected midi part in the track. Do the same thing in Logic Pro in EZKEYS…it deletes EZKEYS (!) if the track happens to be selected in the background. This is a UI discrepancy that really boggles the mind. How can professional people DO this… Come on at least update THAT…
Can you tell me will there be an update from EZKeys VST2 to VST3? Is this already in process and when will it be released?
At last it came.
Toontracks is announcing ezkeys 2 on youtube, it’s looking like ezdrummer 3 and to be released in may 😁
