New Can I just copy and paste

I have EZ Drummer 3, EZ Keys and EZ Mix plus various expansion packs, all obtained by download. I have saved copies of these to an external drive as backup. Within the week I intend to buy a new, more powerful laptop with Windows 11. My query is –

1. Can I just copy my backed up files to the new laptop’s hard drive
2. As the laptop will have a different name to my current one will I need to authorise the files again
3. If so can I do this via Product Manager

Otherwise can someone please detail a better, easier or correct way to do this.

EZMix will just be easier to redownload & install via Product Manager on the new laptop.

1a. if the the backed-up files to which you are referring are the originally DOWNLOADED INSTALLATION FILES,
YES, you can copy them to the DOWNLOAD location on the new laptop as configured in the new installation of Product Manager on the new laptop.

1b. if the the backed-up files to which you are referring are the installed software & sound libraries, only the sound libraries can be copied to the new laptop & then located by the software. AFAIK, the software must be installed from the files downloaded via PM.

2/3. YES, the new software will need to be authorized on the new laptop thru the Product Manager.

Install Product Manager on the new laptop.

Make note of the DOWNLOAD FOLDER as specified in Product Manager’s PREFERENCES. (or change this location to one of your liking).

Close Product Manager.

Copy the DOWNLOAD FILES from your ‘old PC’ to the DOWNLOAD FOLDER specified in the previous step.

ReOpen Product Manager. It should recognize & verify that files have been ‘downloaded/copied‘ and prompt for installation.

If you chose to copy versus to reinstall the EZD3 & EZKeys sound libraries, open EZD3 & EZKeys apps/plugins and each will prompt for the new location of the sound libraries.
