I connected my laptop to my Alesis Surge module and the EZdrummer 3 drum sounds are coming through my module. I can hear them with my headphones on when I am playing. When I connect a 1/4″ from my module to my speaker, the drum sounds are coming from the sounds from my module and not the sounds from EZdrummer 3. When I put my headphones back on, they are the EZdrummer 3 sounds. So my questions are, is there a way to get the EZdrummer 3 sounds from my module to my speaker or do I have to send them from my laptop? Is there a way to control the sounds from my module or is the module now useless and everything has to be controlled from the laptop? What is the best way to get the sounds to a speaker? Thanks!
The Alesis module is not useless if that is the means by which you are triggering EZDrummer3.
The question is whether or not you can decrease the module’s drum sounds in the speaker output of the module
without also decreasing the USB MIDI trigger output to EZDrummer3.
If you can do this, you can connect the headphone output of your laptop to the AUX IN of the Alesis module
enabling the output of EZDrummer3 thru the Alesis out to the speaker or the Alesis headphone output.
If you can’t decrease the module’s drum sounds in the speaker output of the module
without also decreasing the USB MIDI trigger output to EZDrummer3, you will need to connect your speakers
to your laptop via a soundcard or audio interface.
It is not recommended that you connect your laptop’s headphone output directly to your speakers.

Thanked by: ToddLew25Thank you so much! I will try that. I didn’t think to connect the headphones jack on the laptop to the aux in on the module. Then if I lower the module kit volume to zero, hopefully I can use the module volume to control the EZdrummer 3 drum kit sound. Then I’ll connect a 1/4″ from the module to my monitor or to a mixer and run it through a PA. I’ll see if that works. I appreciate your help.
