When I open an existing project in Logic Pro X, the EZ Drummer 3 tracks do not play until I click (select) them once with the mouse. I open a project, I hit the space bar to start playback … and … no groove … no life … no drums!!! Ah right; must click that track header. Click. Play. And all is right in the world again. In the overall scheme of life’s problems this is pretty minor. But it is every so slightly annoying. Is there a way to change this? Or, at least, is there an explanation of why it behaves this way?
I did find an existing EZBass post (https://www.toontrack.com/forums/topic/ezbass-doesnt-work-until-track-has-been-selected-once/) with this same question, but I can’t read it because I don’t have that product (which is kind of weird, but oh well). It does let me know that there is at least one other person in the world who encountered this problem.
Any hints or explanations?
Thanks!
Hi,
go to the Projects Settings > General and un-check ‘Only load plug-ins needed for project playback’. Or you can put some MIDI on the Instrument track.

Thank you for the response! I will give this a try this evening.

Alternatively, put a blank MIDI region on the track. That will keep EZD loaded.

Thanked by: Scott Eshleman and tetrachordPerfect! Placing a MIDI region on the track does indeed solve this (not that I doubted it, but it’s super nice to see it working). And using the empty region as suggested by Jordan works a treat. Thank you!
