multi output in Cubase 12

How do I do it?  I’ll explain exactly what I’m hoping for.

I just switched from Logic to Cubase and I’m having trouble routing multi out with Cubase the way I want it to work.  Maybe partly because I don’t really understand Cubase yet.  I select an Instrument track, select Superior Drummer and I’m using a kit that is processed and has busses, I open Superior Drummer and in the mixer drop down select “Apply Multi Channel Outputs” then I go back in to Cubase and Active All Outputs.  In the main window of Cubase for the software instrument track of Superior Drummer it now only registers the kick drum on the meter and it’s super loud, so I have to switch the Kick Bus output in Superior Drummer’s mixer to 3/4 instead of 1/2.  Now when I switch all the other Bus outputs to 5/6 7/8 etc. the Cubase track in the main window no longer registers anything on it’s meter when I’m performing.  In Cubase it doesn’t create any type of track stack or drop down for the multi outs it only creates the outputs in the mix console which is also fine.  But what I would like is a track stack in the main window that is collapsable and a master instrument track where I can add audio inserts that effect the whole drum kit.  It’s a different functionality than with Logic.

First off there is a tick box in SD3 that will allow mono tracks in Cubase. You have to restart for it to take effect.
what I do first is send the channels in SD3 to the outputs I want them to go. You don’t have to enable them all to do this. Just choose the output and then it will appear. I will then go to Cubase and enable the same amount of outputs as I set in SD3.

You are right Cubase does not create tracks in the arrange window for each output. The reasoning is there is nothing on them. All the midi is on the SD3 midi track. All the tracks exist in the mixer. Here is where I name them. What is good in Cubase (pro version) is you can render the midi and it will then create audio tracks for all the output created. These do then appear in the arrangement.

I create all my midi in Cubase using the drum editor and not in SD3. I find it simpler to work with midi in one place and the drum editor features are good. Also I’ve used it for years. I prefer the render in place as it creates tracks which give you what you are already hearing and you don’t need to worry about tempo tracks and time signatures. It just works.

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer.
