Posting here as the lack of response to e-mails is concerning.
I’ve purchased a new studio PC and have migrated everything from the old machine to this. Everything hunky dory and slick – Steinberg/Cubase, Native Instruments, Spectrasonics, T-Racks, EastWest…no issues at all.
My only sticking point now is the Toontrack software. Back in the mists of time, I started with EZDrummer, moved up to Superior and eventually to Superior 3, plus a whole host of expansion packs. EZDrummer and Superior, along with the Roots packs, I installed from DVD and still have them in my possession.
I mailed support for guidance on how to migrate and got a very woolly response and thus asked for more clarity. I got a second mail regarding moving libraries, but again, it was just not clear enough for me. I’m usually OK with messing about in Windows, but when it’s something unfamiliar and with possibly disastrous consequences if done incorrectly, then I like a real idiot’s guide.
My simple question is this – rather than moving the libraries to an advised external hard drive (an external drive that I don’t possess, by the way), can I not simply reinstall from the DVDs I already have – beginning with EZDrummer and Superior – and “re-upgrade”/re-install from there?
And…I don’t understand how I can buy and install Superior 3 as a download, but then can’t re-install it via download.
But it’s possible, surely?
(I’ve guessed at the version of SD3 below, but I think I was more or less completely up to date.)
Hi,
most likely the installers on your DVD’s are too old to work correctly on your new Windows 10 PC, so if it is possible, I would recommend you install all your products from scratch via the Product Manager.
You do not need to install products you do not plan to use even if you have purchased upgrades, e.g. upgraded EZdrummer 2 from EZdrummer 1 or Superior Drummer 3 from 2. I.e. the product you upgraded from does not need to be on your system to install the upgrade product.
And yes, downloading and re-installing Superior 3, both software and libraries, is made via the Product Manager.

Thanks, John – so just to make absolutely sure of what you’re saying, I can download and activate EVERYTHING via the Product Manager without having to move libraries on my old PC to somewhere else?

That is correct.

Brilliant…I did think it a bit strange that I was told I couldn’t do that.
Thanks for your help.

There was a time when SDXs couldn’t be downloaded, but since the introduction of the Toontrack Product Manager, customers are able to do so now.

Cheers, Scott…almost all done now.
Question…the last three items of the SD3 library (can’t remember what they are and I’m nowhere near my studio PC, so I can’t look at the moment)…I think the last is ‘Mic bleed’ and the other two are also mic positions, I think…can I install those on my smaller, 240GB secondary SSD to save space on my primary SSD?
If so, how and where should I point the main program to find them?

Superior Drummer 3 version: 3.1.7
Operating system: Windows 10
All of the sound files from each library need to reside in the same install folder. They can’t be split up into multiple locations. You can install each different library (SDX) to a different location, but you can’t split up the library.

Gotcha.
OK…I’ll move my Spectrasonics STEAM folder instead, then.
Thanks, Scott.
