I’m sure it’s possible. On a PC, you’d edit the sound path in the registry – > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeToontrackEZkeysSoundPath

What’s the equivalent on a mac?

Another method…just move it and see if EZKeys prompts you for the new path on startup.

    Thanx Fizbin,
I found the installer in my downloads . (plus uninstaller! )
Un installed and did a fresh install to new location ,it mentioned and existing?? “path” at the end of the install but now my load time is back to a few seconds so seems all went well.

yes, you can move the library = entire ‘EZkeys’ folder some place else and the plug will prompt you for the new location at the next launch. Of course if you move it from one drive partition to another then you also need to delete the original folder (otherwise you are just creating a ‘backup’ copy of your folder).

I’m pretty sure though, Juicy, that if you were told your existing path was being used on the re-install then that’s where the files went back to – this is actually a feature of the installer. If you absolutely want(ed) to purge the trace of the EZkeys repository using that method, you would have to use the Uninstaller that comes with the EZkeys Player.

… on a side note, fizbin, I’m not sure why you’d want to ‘hack’ the registry when the program is perfectly capable of handling this for you, and safely so, but I guess it would not be the internet without added ‘wisdom’ for the sake of it. Best to ask first, then disperse information that could get others into trouble 😉

Yes it was in both places or something like that and after a sleep/ coffee i simply needed to take out the Old Faulty drive to complete my process.
    Then on opening EZK
It asked to find the Library and i was back to the funk.

I call it “editing” the registry, not “hacking”, just like you’d edit any configuration. It’s there for a reason. Not sure why people are so frightened of it.

In addition, if you got the path wrong in the registry editing process, EZKeys would still prompt you for the correct location.

Anyway, easiest just to move it and let EZKeys do the work.

well, editing is indeed appropriate, when you know what you are doing, hacking is used when you don’t. Or at least I call it so in those circumstances.

… in this instance there are several keys that are interdependent, just changing SoundPath would lead to some issues later on. You don’t have to take my words for it, but the point I’m trying to make is that the reason the registry keys are there is for the software or installers to make use of, not for users to try to second guess what they do and what happens if you change them.

But this is only a cautionary post to say that you do what you want in the comfort of your own home, or in fact when it comes to posting ‘solutions’ on other Internet forums, but don’t expect us (me in particular) to be happy about those sorts of suggestions going up on our own support boards 😉
