Hello
2 questions please:
Question 1
I want to move my SD2 and SD3 sound libraries to an external SSD hard drive
I understood some of the steps, but I’d like to check with you, please:
(maybe you have a video in addition to your feedback)
1- I check my updates
2- I move my “Toontrack” folder from my IMac library to my external SSD (screenshot BCH1)
3- I indicate the new location of the sounds in my SD3 interface
Question 2
in my IMac “Download” folder, I have a Toontrack folder filled with DMGs that I downloaded when I purchased the products
– can I throw them away – because it weighs over 300GB.
if you say yes can I do from my Manager ? (screenshot BCH2)
Thank you for your follow-up and your answers.
Your product is great and it helps me a lot in the musical composition.
Hello to the whole team and hello from France 🇫🇷 Brun😎
I generally just move the SDX libraries, intact, but not the entire Library/Application Support/Toontrack folder. Can you post a screen print of;
Macintosh HD/Library/Application/Support/Superior3
Macintosh HD/Library/Application/Support/Superior2
Thanks

Hello, Brad,
thank you for taking the time to answer, that’s great!🌞
Too bad Toontrack didn’t make a specific video.
I’m trying to understand the eco-system, because I don’t know what to move on the external SSD.
I’m attaching 3 screenshoots: (normally, they match your request)
1- the Toontrack folder in Library>support application>Toontrack (1Bruno – Library – support application – Toontrack)
I have that, too, but I don’t know if it’s good.
2 – from the Toontrack Product Manager> Click on “show in finder” (2Bruno-ProductManager download)
3 – from the Toontrack Product Manager I arrive in my IMac “Download” folder with more than 300Gb of sounds (3Bruno show in finder from Product Manager)
Are those sounds the ones I have to move into the external SSD?
Thanks for your patience and good music !👍🏻
I am trying to determine where you have the sound libraries installed. Those are the files you can move. Those folders are created when you run the installer. I have created a new Catalina installation so we can walk thru the process.
So I need you to find a folder like the one in my screen print that contains a lot of files ending in *.obw.
That folder is a sound library and is one that you can move to your new SSD drive.

Hello, Brad,
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain.
For your information, from my Product Manager, I’ve removed the DMG downloads that have been there since my first purchase (3000-Gb)
I think it confused my demands for explanations.
My current system on IMac is EL Capitan 10.11.6
(after I plan to do a System Update, my Mac can support it).
Actually, here’s what I understand:
– 1 – I’m moving the “Toontrack” folder (screenshoot BCH A1+A2) which is in Library>Application support>Toontrack to my new External SSD.
– 2 – once this folder in the new location (external SSD) in Logic, I tell SD3 the new location (screenshoot BCH A3)
Hoping to be clear.
Thank you for your information and have a nice day.
Hello from France 🇫🇷
Ok I think I have enough information. This is what I recommend. On your SSD create a new folder: Superior Drummer
Shutdown Logic and Toontrack Product Manager
Then move
/Library/Application Support/SL-MusicCity to [New SSD]/Superior Drummer/SL-MusicCity
/Library/Application Support/SL-RootsVol1 to [New SSD]/Superior Drummer/SL-RootsVol1
/Library/Application Support/SL-SuperiorDrummer3 to [New SSD]/Superior Drummer/SL-SuperiorDrummer3
/Library/Application Support/SL-RockWare to [New SSD]/Superior Drummer/SL-RockWare
/Library/Application Support/EZDrummer to [New SSD]/EZDrummer
Start SD3 standalone and go to: Settings > Libraries Paths
For each library change the path location for each library according to the screen print below. (Using the menu at the end of each path)
Once you satisfied that everything is working properly, you can delete those libraries from /Library/Application Support/.
I have never moved the entire; /Library/Application Support/Toontrack folder, however moving the sound libraries as described will save a lot of space on your system drive.
Let me know how it all works for you.

Ah ah many thanks!
I working my triads tonight on my guitar.
The same too you!👌🏻
My guitar playing needs some practice… I have been focusing on bass and piano during quarantine….
I have a small update to the above…
Moving /Library/Application Support/EZDrummer is a little different, so this is what I would do. (It is good practice for me as I have not done any of this in a long time as I have my libraries spread across 4 different SSDs)
Before you start up SD3 in stand-alone, copy /Library/Application Support/EZDrummer to [New SSD]/EZDrummer
Then rename /Library/Application Support/EZDrummer to /Library/Application Support/EZDrummer_ORIGINAL
Then start up SD3.
When you go to settings > Libraries/Paths you will see an error message for “Additional Libraries” and it will let you browse to the new location.

Hello Brad,
it’s 10:00 at night in France.
A thousand thanks for your patience and availability.
I finally understood, the way to get to the files.
I understood the good libraries to move and how to indicate in the Manager settings the new SSD location.
I’ve been wanting to do this for 6 months and honestly, it wasn’t easy for me to understand how to do it, even though I understood the simple idea of putting your libraries on an external hard drive.
You’ve been a great help!
One more question please:
– can I throw away the folders on the IMac in Superior Drummer: SL-MusicCity – SL-RockWare – SL-RootsVol1 and SL-SuperiorDrummer3 which contain more than 300 GB of data? (I leave the Superior Drummer folder empty)
– can I throw away the folders that are on the IMac in EZDrummer_ORIGINAL: EZX_Percussion and Midi
For the record, I plan to buy EZBass – I guess I could do the same – i.e. move the libraries from on the external SSD?
Well, that’s just great!
I’m professionalizing my DAW a bit more. My goal is to compose – like you, I work on bass and piano. There’s no shortage of ideas.

Hi, glad you were able to get everything done. Sorry for the late response, summer has arrived here on the west coast of BC (Canada) so I took advantage of our 1 day of sun 🙂
Once you are satisfied that everything is functioning properly from your new SSD, you should be able to delete the folders from the original location on your internal drive.
EZBass is cool. I am enjoying it a lot. You won’t have to move the sound files for it, you can just tell the installer to install them on your new SSD.
When you get the to point of the install like the one in my screen print, just select the disk under “location” and you will get an option of “other” select that and then navigate to your new SSD and install the EZBass sound library there.

Hello, Brad,
I understand that the area you live in is beautiful – enjoy the sun!
I live in the south of France in Montpellier, a modern, lively and student city. There is no shortage of sunshine, there is too much of it !
Thanks again for the info about EZBass – I’m looking forward to it.
One question, maybe you have an affiliate link for me – with that, Toontrack can make a gift just for you.
If so, please send it to me.
This afternoon is my day of music, I’m going to continue the composition I have in progress, I’m progressing, I’m discovering the CAGED and I’m still a bit struggling with the cycle of Quints.
Go to Logic Pro!
Keep it’up! Bruno
No affiliate link or anything like that is necessary. Glad you have it working and enjoy making music!
Cheers
Brad
