Tom MartiniI have tried everything and last resport was to repost here. This has to do with how Presonus Studio One 6 can see exported routing from SD3 on a WINDOWS 10 OS.
Back story. I like to import into channels from SD3 to do all my mixing before commiting to print (bouncing to wav for those non Pro Tools users) but if I want to keep the channel active I can for future to change stuff I may want to.
In Pro Tools if you export Superior Drummer 3 into Pro Tools channels it can recognize 1L, 2R, 1/2 stereo etc so you have a choice as to what the channel needs to be. (example kick is mono but toms could be stereo). Creating a mono channel in Pro Tools for each input as it is set in SD3 to be 1L/2R. So if it is stereo you can choose stereo 1/2 stereo. If it is two split mono’s 1L/1R can be set for inputs from SD3.
Now I’m trying to do the same thing in Studio One 6 and it can only see 1/2 Stereo. (of course more tracks more channels 3/4, 5/6 etc but for simplicity purposes I used 1/2 here.)
I contacted Presonus and they say it is a limitation of SD3, not their software. If an instrument exports as stereo it can only recognise the stereo even if it is split into L+R mono though.
So maybe TT needs to create a patch for Studio One routing. I put in a support ticket a long time ago and the support rep for Presonus said he uses SD3 and EZD3 and it can’t be done yet Pro Tools and many others can . Doesn’t make sense.
Anyone know a way to do it like Pro Tools can? So the tracks would have to be AUDIO tracks that can record not a bus that can’t.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply buy unfortunately that does not work with Studio One 6. It doesn’t seem that anything will allow for mono inputs no matter how SD3 is set to export. I have searched everywhere but no one seems to use it in that manner in Studio One 6.

That toggle is for Cubase and Nuendo only so won’t work. There is topic with a workaround in Logic on here. That might be worth finding as the ideas may be transferable. I don’t know though as I use Cubase.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

Thanks for your suggestion but unfortunately it doesn’t work with Studio One 6 (or any other version). It is a problem I believe with Presonus’s coding as to how it sees the input so if SD3 (or any other input program) is only seen as stereo no mater how the output is set then it can’t split the L and R as two single mono channels-1L 2 R.. It will aloow for a stereo- split mono 1L/1R where as one stereo channel becomes L and R in same channel but not two separate ones. Having it that way is a pain to try to process with FX as you would have to assign each insert as L or R all the time and it limits the amount of FX you can use on each channel. Very frustrating because Studio One blames Toontrack and Toontrack blames Presonus….I wish they would figure something out together. I had to stay with Pro Tools for the monet because of this limitation. Studio One has more features though.

JohnI believe the only way now to separate in live mode out of the plug-in is to pan hard in the SD3 mixer and then use the Studio One Splitter in the Outputs Routing. Then change the Pan to Dual and put inserts per split. In the Routing window you also can control each channel’s output volume.
Personally, I would render the separate microphones in SD3 to Audio files with the built-in Bounce if I were using my DAW’s mixer only.

Tom MartiniI’ll just stay with Pro Tools until someone figures out an easy way to do it. Pro Tools is easier to do it.

Ken SpenceHi Thomas
Buy Cubase and trash all the other’s
Notice that in the last screenshot I sent you “Cubase/Nuendo” I wonder why that is. I guess that superior Drummer prefers Steinberg products.
Personus hardware is great software not so much. It does not play nice. And that other thing by AVID, same scenario GREAT hardware lousy software. In MY opinion!
I own a Faderport 8, a Faderport 1 and an Avid MC Transport.
You can buy a Volkswagen buss, a Dodge Minivan or a Chevy Cargo Van. they all can haul the laundry but don’t toss 10 bags of cement in the first two. Hell the spare tire from my van won’t even fit in the Dodge.
An yes I own a big white bread box. Chevy 2500.
PS. I broke it once. Too much weight. Blew out the front right wheel bearings.
Cheers

Thanks for that interesting response. Yeah, I’ll stay with Pro Tools, thanks. I’ve tried Cubase and never liked the visual appearance of it. Just because TT offers a setting for it does not mean it prefers it to one or another. Pro Tools is in about every Pro movie and recording studio in the world so its safe to say it’s an industry standard. I also think it has the best functions and features but has some things that are limited that pretty much i never use anyway. I also use Studio One 6 for the things that it does have. But thanks for the reply, I appreciate it I’m a GM guy myself! Cheers.
