Since the 1990s, timba represents Cuba’s intense and slightly more aggressive music and dance form. As opposed to salsa, the roots of which are with the Cuban conjunto bands of the 1940s and 1950s, modified with rock, jazz, and traditional music of Puerto Rico, Timba represents a synthesis of a wider variety of popular and folkloric sources. Timba bands draw heavily from international influences such as jazz, rock, disco, funk and hip hop, as well as local folklore like rumba, guaguancó, batá drumming and the sacred songs of santería.
That with an extense midi grooves from afrocuban percussionist will become the best seller of all the expansions!!! Timba is the sintesis of all the good tastes in american and latin music. That will be aplicable to every kind of production wich needs a boost of real latin flavors. The latin perc ezx is so poor in sound, it doesn’t cover the real tuning of salsa, timba, son, mambo styles. Is more like a miscelaneas expansion. It’s time for the hard core of latin music in a SDX!!!
It could have:
Modern Tight Drums (Preff Pearl, Yamaha, DW)
Timbales lp
Congas lp
Cowbells lp
Bongos lp
Minor Perc
Afrocuban Batas Drums lp
No company has achieved this top of the line product. The closest one is Zero G Beats Working in Cuba but is so oldfashioned and not user friendly at all. Toontrack is the best to get this. I personally know the best musicians to get something like this here in miami.
Thanks
