I read a similar post in this forum that sort of addresses the issue I’m having, but the suggested solution doesn’t seem to be an option for me.
So, have a splash cymbal loaded on Cymbal 3. Of the various articulations available for that splash, there are two that are grayed out. All of the other articulations have that small power button that I can toggle on/off. But the grayed out articulations don’t have that option. (see attached image) In this instance, the sound I’m wanting to program for my cymbal pad is the ‘Bow Tip’ sound.
When I go to Settings and then to MIDI In/E-drums and I show that specific cymbal, some of those articulations say “(not loaded)” next to them. (also see attached image) I installed all of the sound libraries. The only two folders I did NOT install were the surround setup and the Height Surround folders. Those install folders don’t have any sounds in them, right?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get these sounds active? Any help would be appreciated.
Hi JayGo,
that particular Splash does not have Bow Tip and Bow Shank articulations, so you’re not missing anything.
The 15″ Zildjian/14″ Paiste stack has in that position. Or if you load another Crash from another library or position on the Cymbal 3 position.

Thanks, John.
Is there a list somewhere of all the articulations I could use as a reference?
It’s always just depended on the library. The SDXs before sd3 have far fewer articulations and none have tip. The core sd3 has tip whereas death and darkness doesn’t have tip, or at least not on the ones I’ve tried. What libraries do you have?
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
Thanks, Mark. As of now, I only have the core library, but I do see one or two I’ll eventually buy.
