I have been away from my equipment for a few years
Mac Ver 10.7.5
Pro tools 7.4.6
EZdrummer 1.1.6
Am using an EZ Multi ptf to start with. I select my grooves in EZ drummer and can play the groove thru my Daw (digidesign 003)
I can hit record and it appears to record a midi track of the groove. The midi window is there, keyboard on the left, it records a window for the time required, but no midi notes showing. No playback of the notes. I can drag a groove into this window, but my PT manual states it should record just like an audio track except midi. Please help
Hi,
I suspect this is more a Pro Tools question than EZdrummer.
How are you inputting the MIDI that doesn’t stick? A Keyboard controller? Just playing the groove in EZdrummer 1 will not send it to your track. Drag and drop from the Groove Browser in EZdrummer 1 to your track is the way.
Are you sure you have had this working earlier? IIRC Pro Tools 8 was a requirement for the EZdrummer 1 plugin.

Thanked by: Gary PutthoffHi J
I may not have been able to record the notes directly as the PT manual states( Pro Tools LE 7 Ignite 2nd ed. pages 257, 258). I think what I did before was to drag a groove in and then loop it as needed to get the basic track to work with and modify. Yes I have used EZ Drummer with my PT 7.4.2, and it still works great, just coming back to it and wanting to get everything working right as possible. Basically looping the groove does the same thing as what I am trying to start with.
Here is a track I did several years ago with this set up;

Thank you for the reply
OK,
so dragging to your PT Instrument Track works as intended and you just have to figure out how to trigger and record to it?
If you have a keyboard or pad controller, you can first check that it works with your system by going into the Audio/MIDI setup, it is located among the Utilities on your Mac.
If you can see that it works there, you check your Instrument Track in Pro Tools that the MIDI Input of the track is set to your controller and the track’s MIDI Out is set to EZdrummer. This should happen by default but you never know.
When rec enabling the track, you should be able to trigger and record.

John
