I purchased Orchestral Percussion months ago, and am surprised at how limited the included midi files are (much fewer than in the drum SDXs). I also own SD3 and many of the add on drum midi packs. and I’ve come to rely on the quality of the nuanced, dynamic performances that the pro session drummers bring to those files.
I counted 102 drum midi packs offered by Toontrack, yet not a single midi pack
for Orchestral Percussion. I’m frustrated by this oversight, and have only used it once.
I’d prefer to be doing my percussion work in OP, but due to this limitation, I’ve been going to Damage 2 and other NI libraries instead.
Thanks!
Lenny
As stated in another thread I agree more Orchestral grooves please.

Thanked by: MICHAEL SINAY and fastnlooseI was just about to ask the same question! The library sounds great, but I am often in a hurry and need quick jumping off points, so I’m with you. The midi selection is really limited and if a midi pack or two was made available I’d grab those in a nanosecond.

Dell Precision 7730, i7 6 Core 2.6 GHz, 128GB RAM, 1TB SSD and 3 x 2TB SSD, Windows 11, Cubase Pro 14, SD3 plus a variety of SDX's and EZX's, Orchestral Percussion, EZBASS, RME BabyFace Pro FS and KRK V4 monitors. Modified Yamaha DTX900, DTXPRESS4 and Edrumin10 triggering SD3. Yamaha pads/cymbals and Roland VH-10 HiHat. PDP Maple acoustic kit for live playing.
Yeah, the greatest disappointment of all Toontrack times is that they didn’t release ANY additional MIDI packs for this library. The few tracks that come with the library (I think there are only two?) are obviously just something to preview how the library sounds, rather than to use it for production.
My workarouds so far:
1. Used some MIDI from Action MIDI packs (I also have Action EZX), modified a bit, remapped, it worked alright.
2. Designed my own grooves using Groove Shaper from Pitch Innovations.
3. Have been creative and played it all by myself from scratch directly in DAW’s track.
I would love to see some MIDI packs released specifically for the Orchestral Percussion library. I know they would give me additional inspiration, and I would probably use this library more often.
Yeah, a huge disappointment.
Basically just a few grooves that only play simple hits.
The samples are great. But the midi is pathetic.

Thanked by: MarcinHey everyone! I recently purchased this expansion & also had the same question.
Fun fact, if you have other Toontrack SDX libraries & midi packs you can actually search for toms and snare for example, which obviously then triggers the Orchestral instruments when you have the Orchestral SDX kit loaded.
So, you can theoretically get some weird and interesting performances (you’d then tweak them) for extra options. Sometimes you get it to sound cool and natural. It’s bit of hit and miss and clearly not ideal. But worth trying while there aren’t many midi performance options yet.
The only other option is to play the performance yourself of course, which is probably what they were thinking initially. You’re mostly paying for the samples after all.
But yes, I agree, Toontrack needs to create an additional midi pack for this library with at least 300-400 midi files. I would purchase it immediately!

Similar results to playing regular drum grooves with Latin Percussion EZX or Latin Cuban Percussion EZX – completely not what was being asked here.
