Hi,
I am facing this issue for the first time. I am working on a drum track that was recorded in MIDI, played on a Roland e-kit. I have made a few changes in the MIDI settings so that the tom rims trigger other instruments that I added to my setup in SD3
I am now editing the drums in the piano roll and I can’t find some of the basic (core) instruments. For instance, the left crash cymbal: in SD3 it is assigned to note 49, but when I play note 49 in the piano roll it is another articulation of this particular crash cymbal that is played. I have searched for the “crash” articulation of this cymbal by playing all the notes of my MIDI keyboard and found that it is on note 55. However, SD3 shows note 55 as being a splash cymbal.
This is just one example but I have a few other similar issues with other instruments.
Why is this happening and how can I restore the correlation between SD3 and the piano roll?

+1 I’ve the same issue that I posted here yesterday.
Does anyone have a clue?

Hi, I’m still stuck with this issue, does no one know why this is happening?

Are you referring to the piano role in your DAW, or the grid editor in SD3? It’s a little ambiguous.

Hi and thanks for your interest. The issue is that the mapping in the piano roll of my DAW don’t match the midi mapping section in SD3.

Is it radically wrong or an octave out? I always remember in the past what was c3 on one keyboard or drum module would be c2 on another. Which DAW are you using? I use Cubase Pro and do all my midi in there.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
I use Reaper. It’s not like you describe: it is only some instruments (a few cymbals and a few drums) that got mixed up in the DAW. There doesn’t seem to be any logic to the changes at all.
As far as I can recall, it started happening when I changed the instruments that were triggered by my e-drum kit, although I don’t see why that would have somthing to do with this issue.

All I can think of is to check and see if your input mapping has changed. I sometimes got this when switching library‘s while hooking SD3 to Logic’s Drummer track. It changed the input map from Logic Drum Designer back to Default.

Where did you make the changes? If you change notes for an ekit you should do it in the edrum settings and not on the main page to keep compatibility. It sounds like this is your problem but I could be wrong depending on what you changed. I know when I first got SD3 I did all the changes on the main page before reading the manual. I then had to default it all again and make the changes in the edrum settings instead.

I made the changes in Drums\Settings\MIDI in e-drums

Odd one then. It could be a common problem as I may not notice as I use the drum editor in Cubase and only input with my td30. So far I haven’t seen anything. Maybe toontrack could comment.

I have contacted support about it.

I know it might not be the perfect solution but wouldn’t it be easier to just drag and drop the whole MIDI part into SD3 and edit it in there?
You can bounce the wave files from there and just use those in the mix.
I use Cubase but I always edit my drums within SD3 as I find it easier to locate all the articulations and instruments.

Thanks for the suggestion. There are too many things I don’t know how to do in the SD3 editor, I would lose too much time.
Anyway, I managed to get it right: I simply selected a kit from the library, rebuilt my custom kit again by replacing/adding instruments, and that got the mapping back on track.
Thanks for the replies!

I do all my editing in Cubase drum editor. I’m used to it and can work in it quickly. It also bypasses all the other problems getting them to play together.
