Hello Toontrack,
I’ve owned and used EZ2 for a few years now, but the lack of midi mapping for use with my midi controller (keyboard plus 50+ assignable pads/sliders), prompted me to step up to the superior line. I wound up with SD3, but am getting really worried I wasted lots of money.
I had watched a few tutorials on SD2 about creating midi nodes, and had read a review of SD3 that stated the stack function replaced midi nodes. I thought: “Great, this is exactly what I need”.
I wanted to create one using different (ex. snare) articulations, by triggering them based on the velocity of a hit pad.
Example: After programming, a single MIDI note would use velocity 0-30 to trigger an edge hit (ghost-note sound), velocity 31-120 would trigger the (main) center hit, and 121-127 would trigger the (dynamic) rim-shot hit.
Is this possible in SD3? Just under a different feature/name? Will it be? I’m actually praying that it is…
This is the natural way I play a real snare, matter of fact, probably the way 90% of drummers would play one.
For the life of me, I can’t imagine why this functionality wouldn’t be included in SD3, as to me, it’s crucial in facilitating live play-ability for those of us that use controllers, and do not want to *even start* on the very expensive road to e-drums.
I’m about to bid on a used copy of SD2 (because of the reasons I stated above) and make a licence transfer. This is money I do NOT wish to spend.
Before I do so, I’d really appreciate a response from either the mods or admin …if the full capabilities of “midi node” will be possible using stacks, and incorporated into SD3.
Thanks for your time,
Steve
Hi,
when you create a Stack, you can have the different articulations/samples on different velocity zones, yes.

Thank goodness for that, and thanks for your response.
I couldn’t find a tutorial on that, so I’ll need to find it elsewhere.
Covered in the manual under stacks? Or?
