I’m losing it trying to map the 8 big square pads on the synth to the midi channel in the details window of each drum in a kit.
I can select a drum and match it to a pad on the synth, with say note – C1. So I hit the pad, and the drum “mapped” works,
but another drum with in the kit also sounds. So to make it clear 2 drums are sounding at the same time. Not what I want!
When I look at the details of the drum that should NOT be sounding, I notice that one of it’s subset sounds has the key of C1 also?
Please direct me to a video or something so I can fix this. Not sure why you would have the same midi note assigned to more than 1
drum within a kit? (I am new to midi)
Thanks
On page 30 in the manual, it says how to edit a MIDI note to a controller on your Akai keyboard (http://6be54c364949b623a3c0-4409a68c214f3a9eeca8d0265e9266c0.r0.cf2.rackcdn.com/987/documents/Advance61-UserGuide-v1.0.pdf)
Is that how you have done it? If you, for example, setup a pad on you keyboard to play note 38, that should trigger the snare center.
The reason for some drums to have have different notes for the same articulation is that some midi files uses different note numbers than the standard numbers.

Did not realize there was a difference between D-1 and D1? Will switch to note mode once I figure out how to switch that on the keyboard.
Now will this keyboard mapping work in ezdrum standalone mode? Do I need to have the Akai VIP software running? And if so, should this be done by adding ezdrum as an instrument plugin to the Akai VIP software or keep it out of VIP?
Similar question for Studio one 3 pro. What setup will actually effect the change in ezdrum via Studio One?
(Had akai pad registering to the drum in ezdrum yesterday, since then I can’t remember what config got that to work?)
Some one needs to put out a youtube vid.

mapping ezdrummer 2 to drum pads on advance 61 keyboard
Hi,
Thanks for posting!
This is normal. We’ve discussed this a few times here and the difference is just in the way the note is labeled between the two companies. Essentially, it’s a difference in opinion about where middle C is.
Using the note numbers is an easy way around this as these should still line up between the controller and the software. If you go into the Global Menu on the Advance, you’ll see on the first page an option to change the Note Display Type between Name and Number.
Hope this helps!
I’m interested in the same topic. On an Advance 49, should be the same. I can’t find anywhere instructions on how to map drums and percussion from ezdrummer to the Akai. Currently in standalone mode, I can control ezdrummer with keys and pads but I’d like to know how to map the pads to certain drums and percussion instruments. I can’t find anything that will trigger any of the percussion.
Is there documentation or vids anywhere to show how this is done?
Thanks
