The Roland PDX-8 snare is a dual-trigger 8″ mesh snare pad with a 2″ rim for rim work. Besides triggering a “snare center” sound via MIDI in SD3, I want to be able to hit the rim of the PDX-8 and trigger the “snare sidestick” sound.
Can anyone please help me walk through how to assign this in the MIDI mapping? I don’t understand.
Thank you.
Cancel this question/request. Just found out that PDX-8 is NOT positional sensing as required to MIDI map with SD3.
You can still make rim do sidestick though as it is two separate triggers and nothing to do with ps. Just assign to the correct midi note in the edrum settings. You can even stack so a softer hit is sidestick and a harder hit is rim shot. I prefer a separate trigger to do this though as your never 100% which you will get.
