Hi,
I’ve created a bass line in Guitar Pro and exported to a MIDI file.
When playing the MIDI file in other programs (Synthesia/StudioOne 4) it plays correctly.
However, when importing to EZBass it is not done correctly, with missing notes, others added and the timings being off.
Is there a particular setting I’m not seeing? Also it doesn’t adjust to the tempo of the file, keeping it at 120bpm even with original tempo selected.
Cheers,
Hi fransisigos,
Guitar Pro seems to play C4 on note index 60, while EZbass plays that note as C3. This means that the lowest note E0 on a four string bass guitar in Guitar Pro is played as E-1 in EZbass, which is outside of the playable range.
Neither EZbass nor Guitar Pro support changing the position of middle C at this point, but there is a workaround: transpose the entire bass track in Guitar Pro one octave up before saving it as a midi file. This will make the tones have the same pitch in EZbass as they do when playing back in Guitar Pro.
An alternative is using the Drums & Keys tab and importing the Left Hand piano card into the song track. You can then transpose any notes that were imported in the wrong octave.
The playable range in EZbass is A0 – E4, which corresponds to A1 – E5 in Guitar Pro notation.

Thanked by: fransisigosThanks for your help Erik, I transposed up an octave, ensured that when selecting the file from the user folder I had original tempo and original key selected and it’s worked!!
The bass sounds wonderful and I’m super keen to see what I can do with it.
Thanks again

Thanked by: Henrik EkblomSo basically in guitar pro, play it on bass on two thinner strings will sound like two thicker string octave range in ezbass?
I think this problem is entierly within EZBass and not at all in GuitarPro.
If I buy some standard professional midi tracks and then trying to play the Bass Guitar midi tracks with EZBass, it normally FAILS, does not work!!
But it works fine in most other plugins (bass guitar plugins).
In order for it work with EZBass I have to transpose it up one octave BEFORE i import it to EZBass.
It does not work to import the midi file and then transpose it within EZBass bacause it seems that EZBase CUTs out all midi notes that are not within the playable range of the Bass Guitar in their own midi note mapping.
And this is a totally unexpected behavior and ….. … is not mentioned at all anywhere in the user manual or in the application menus!!
It probably wastes so much time from the users before they finaly find out the hard way.
The same is happening to me and I can’t find an answer. EZBass cuts out the midi notes of my bass line when playing a F# note.
