Hi All,
I am doing my best to configure a large number of cymbals on from a TD-20 running into Metalheads on EZD2
I am able to configure which MIDI channels are sent from which trigger.
Quite often I see the below, they look like unwanted redirects.
(MIDI In: 25 —> 51)
(MIDI In: 32 —> 55)
For example a certain crash cymbal will inform I need to send note 32 to activate it.
I’ll successfully send note 32 to EZD (the 32 flashes orange) but at the same time I’ll see the redirect to 55.
So for example I might try for a crash on 32 but get redirected to a rack tom on 55!
What is going on here? It smells like it is EZD2 not quite playing straight with me, as the TD20 is not capable of such shenanigans AND like I say the note I choose to send does flash on EZD2. I’d like EZD2 to to NOT redirect and just respond to what note I provide to it.
I have attached a screenshot of exactly what I am getting at in case the above is not clear enough!
Please help! Thanks!
Dan
The redirects of MIDI notes are a result of selecting a MIDI mapping in the E-drums Settings page. If you select “None” there, no redirects will be done. The predefined MIDI mappings for different manufacturers are provided by us to make the e-drums work “out of the box” with EZdrummer 2, but if you want to configure the e-kit by yourself it might be a better idea to have “None” as the midi mapping.
Let us know how that works out for you.

Ah ha. Indeed. Thankyou!!!
BUT
I’d love to use ‘none’ but very strangely the ride activates the hats on that setting (even though they share absolutely no note numbers – Ride is 51+53, Hats are in the 20’s/40’s and 60’s).
Interestingly the Hats do not activate the ride though!
Can you think why this might be?
I am more than happy to build a kit from scratch as long as I can get over that hurdle. It seems Toontrack must know about this quirk as they were able to build around it (turn on the Roland setting and all is well).
When the Roland setting is on it’s not as if the Ride 51+53 are redirected or the Hats either.
Thoughts?!?
Hi,
if I understand you correctly, you remap the Edge, Bow, Closed and Open Pedal notes in your module and do not use the ‘Roland’ mapping in EZdrummer 2.
Edge=#7
Bow=#8
Closed Pedal=#10
You might consider upgrading to Superior 2, since this is a bit more advanced and not falling into the ‘EZ’ category.
Then you can really customize your setup.

Sorry for the late reply John – like I say the notes that ezd2 expects the ride and hats to use do not clash.
The TD-20 ride produces exactly and only the notes required of it(actually by default).
So I do not know how the ride could be triggering the hats – but someone at Toontrack does (as someone was able to create a preset which avoids that!)
Only problem is that the Roland default limits the number of cymbals which can be used. Any chance you can investigate the difference between the default and roland settings? There is something /other/ than note numbers going on I think. I wonder if some kind of core patch to EZD2 is needed?
I have attached screenshots of my hat and ride note numbers in case it helps in any way…

I cannot really move to Superior Drummer – I have invested A LOT in soundpacks and this is my only problem!
Thanks!
