Hi Heapster, I have asked the same question and unfortunately it’s bad news, in stand alone mode Easy Drummer 3 is designed in such a way that it does nothing for you unless you are a genius Drummer that creates songs by creating drums first with the song already created in your head, you are expected to use an imaginary sound track to create your drums first then export this drum track to a DAW to then start recording  the rest of the song using this drum track as a guide. Now this apparently seems logical to EAZY Drummer 3 creators, while to the 99.9% of the rest of us it really is useless and badly sucks cause the Bandmaster itself is great, the Song and Grid editor is very nice it’s just all put together it was designed for genius drummers that have supers human powers.

Or maby it was just designed by a Drummer 😂.

sorry for the bad news, but you can always introduce a complicated DAW and add the EZD3 to it so with this complicated mess you can attempt to create a song with drums behind it, good luck!

EZD3 should be renamed to CD3 COMPLICATED DRUMMER 3 there is nothing EAZY about it cause it’s just a messy waste of time with a DAW and a useless peace of junk in stand alone mode.

The best thing about it it has great sounding drums, great individual sections that are easy and great to use, but it is a peace of crap if you put them all together to do something creative.

    In Stand alone mode,

It can’t record audio directly in to it,

you can’t place an audio track in to it and edit to the audio track

    really messy playhead/looping function logic

If you like to have a slow and messy workflow than EZD3 if perfect for you, it’s also a fantastic drum sound module with a daw but in stand alone mode it has no purpose unless you just like to arrange drum tracks and your imagination to create material.

Hopefully Toontracs are listening and will slightly rearrange the software to make it true to its name.

Good luck! If you find a simple solution to our problem I would appreciate you response, at the moment I am putting up with it using Logic Pro which I have just bought the latest version it will be interesting to see it’s Drummer capabilities, perhaps it might be easier to achieve my goals using it only then deciding to which one sounds better and using EZD3 as a sound module only.

    Good luck!

    Damir, a frustrated ED3 user.

Hi Damir. It’s early days for me at the moment and still plodding my way through the manual, not good. Even editing the midi and trying to put back with the track isn’t easy and some of the buttons mentioned the the manual just aren’t on my screen. You are quite right I just love the drum sounds. I’ll persevere and keep you posted. Many many thanks. David.

Hello Damir. Found out my problem was using as a stand alone. It does everything I want really well opening up in Studio one. Keyboard players are such wizzes at tech stuff. All the best David.
