I’ve used Superior Drummer 3 for a long time and have many expansion packs. I’ve been working lately to set up different microphone routings, and I want to confirm my primary assumption and perhaps get some tips from people here on the forum who have more experience than I do.
I use multi-out in SD3 and mixdown drum instruments in my DAW. I typically reduce (sometimes to zero) the drum bleed on most channels in the mixer, except for room mics and overheads. I have found that it eliminates the need to tweak gates in the mixer. I don’t use any effects in the SD3 mixer. I like to mic the individual cymbals (Hi-hat, crash, crash 2, ride, etc.). It gives me much more control over their sonic characteristics and placement in the sound field. I use only the overhead and room mics to add dimension to the overall sound on my drum bus.
I realize this may seem like a foolish question, but I assume that I need to create a distinct microphone routing preset in the “User Presets” for each pack I have based on the drum instruments used in that pack. In other words, I cannot create a “generic” mic routing preset in one pack and apply it to another expansion pack. Obviously, if I could, that would save me a lot of time in setting up a new kit.
Any constructive feedback is always appreciated…

Hi,
you can only load parts from saved Presets (such as the Mixer) between Presets (Factory + User) based on the same Library. The amount and type of microphones used in each library differs greatly, so Microphone/Mixer routings between libraries would be very hard to implement, I guess.
