    Hi,

the plugin itself does not have the metronome, it is only available in the standalone.

Why don’t you enable the Reaper metronome and record with the Reaper timeline running? If you set up a loop in Reaper, the EZdrummer 2 plugin track will follow.

I am able to do that.  I can have the metronome in reaper keep time and record directly on the track in reaper itself but as far as I can tell, I cannot use the edit play style feature within EZ Drummer if I am editing and recording directly to the track in reaper itself, only if I am recording to the track within EZ Drummer itself, which I cannot do without a metronone function within the EZ Drummer plugin.

You can enable the metronome in Reaper, but still record the MIDI to the track of EZdrummer 2!

At this point I can only assume that there is something about my setup that is not like you guys setup.  Maybe an installation problem.  Let me ask it this way, one step at a time, when I activate the metronome in reaper, where should I press the record button, Reaper or EZdrummer.

The MIDI will be recorded where you enable record. If you enable record in Reaper, the MIDI will be recorded to the Reaper track. If you press record in EZdrummer 2, the MIDI will be recorded to EZdrummer 2. You can even record enable both EZdrummer 2 and Reaper, which will record into both places – not that common to want that though 🙂

I’m coming back to this old question again because I am once again frustrated trying to get such a simple thing working.

Running EZDrummer as a plugin in reaper.

I activate the metronome in reaper but when I press record in the plugin itself, no metronome plays.  What am I doing wrong?

I do this in Studio One but the basic process should be the same regardless of the DAW

    1. EZDrummer 2 – make sure follow host is selected
    2. DAW (Reaper) – make sure you can hear EZDrummer when you hit/press your MIDI device (monitor)
    3. DAW (Reaper) make sure you hear a metronome when you hit “Play” on the transport.
    4. EZDrummer 2 – Enable record.
    5. Hit “Play” on the DAW (Reaper) Transport
    6. start playing……

    Hmm, that seemed to work.

It works kinda weirdly but at least it does work.

    Thanks!
