You can take a look at this thread from last year for a discussion on the same topic:

I had a similar problem. What I did find though, was that if I turned up the velocity knob to 60 (I think, I’m at work now, I’ll double check), then I could hear the snares on all of the grooves/fills. I haven’t tried adjusting them using Reaper’s midi editing function, though I will need to on some older tracks. I find the biggest problems to be on blast beats. Honestly, once the drums were inserted into the mix, I literally could not hear the snare at all. It was just all kicks. On one particular blast beat, adjusting just by one (59-60) went from inaudible to machine gun like. I’m still not quite sold on the Metalheads kit. I actually went back to DFH for some of my latest recordings. I like the sound of the Metalheads kit, but it’s very temperamental compared to the other EZXs I have.

I’m probably not the best judge though, as I only just learnt how to route the drums to different channels after owning EZdrummer for over a year. It’s time for me to start reading manuals. The kits sound awesome with some extra polish added. I thought you had to mix all the drums together in EZD and needed SD to route out. My idiocy knows no bounds.
