I thank I have made a mess of installing superior drummer 3 and several add on packs to an external SSD. Symptoms include libraries are greyed out in main display, no presets from any add on packs showing up in pull down menu and 99% of midi selections are greyed out?
when I use product manager to troubleshoot it shows I have everything “ready to use” but no uninstall options. When I try to re download them , they show up on my SSD drive as .DMG files? Those are the actual installation files. Shouldn’t they be in my download folder? Not the external SSD? If I click “install” it completes and leaves the DMG there. And the products are still greyed out in the SD3 main menu.
my instinct is to hunt down every too track folder and file and uninstall them manually and then try a fresh reinstall starting with SD3? Do I need to install my SD2 first?
anyway, my dream solution would be to have you remote access my system and get me all fixed up. Hey! A guy can dream right? Lol
cheers, can’t wait to actually use your stuff!
oh, I’m running iMac protools Catalina external ssd’s and I have a lovely Argossy Console with great looking foam acoustic stuff on the walls! So you know I’m the real thing baby!!
Hi,
it’s bit tricky to know what has happened without actually seeing the content of your hard drives and installation paths.
You are right in assuming .dmg files are for installing stuff. You can check the path for your PM Downloads in the PM Preferences, either via the menu or by hitting “Cmd+,”.
By Default plug-in files – ”the software”, presets and MIDI files install to your system drive. The SDX libraries can reside anywhere; on different drives but one single library cannot be split over two (or more) locations.
To Uninstall a library, you need to download the first part of it again to run the uninstaller. Or you simply delete the ‘SL-Xxxxxx’ folder on your drive and go into the Installation Info tab for the library in question and ‘Clear path’ for it.
What you do NOT want to do, is have the PM Downloads pointing to the very same location as you are actually installing the library into (I *think* the PM should warn you about it), since clearing the Downloads will wipe the installed files as well.
